After more then half a year of not playing eve, I decided to come back. Anyways... Right now, I'm not sure whether to start a new char, or just continue my old one. Now, the question you'll all ask is how much skill points my old one has. Well, it doesn't have THAT much. My best ship on it is a Thorax, with a decent loadout. Anyway, onto question two, has much changed? What's the best attack cruiser now and with what loadout? Is m0o still milking everyone of their ships? Etc.!

I'd keep your old character. At least it'll save you some time and ISK.
Theres been a lot of changes, some good, some bad. Combat (PvP specifically) has improved, but it's still got quite a few annoyances. There are a few new Tech 2 items/ships available and agent missions have had a lot of work, amongst other things. All in all it's improved for the better.
As for your cruiser, it depends entirely on how you want to fight and what you're fighting. I don't think theres an ultimate setup due to EVE's rock/paper/scissors style of combat. Just keep playing around until you find something that suits your style of play. |

I'm coming back, and let me tell you...keep you old Character!!!! Unless it has some serious problem.
Why? I find myself saying something like.."Oh, a Photon Scattering whatever, now I don't have to worry about Energy weapons so much...wait I can't use it yet"
My problem is different...I gave my account to a friend to hold in case I decided to come back, and well I can't get it back now.

I have just returned to the game after a break of 5 months and like you I couldn''t decide if i should use my old character or not. I gave up playing because i was starting to get a little bored and i didn''t want to fall back into the same old rut again. So, In the end i decided to start a new one and to be honest I think i did the right thing. Having to start from scratch has meant that i can''t do much yet but i am having a lot of fun working my way up again. I went with a totally different type of character and career path and i almost feel like i''m playing a different game. So I say go with a new character and play the game from a different angle. -- "It's hard to lead a cavalry charge if you think you look funny on a horse." |

Wow, i am not alone with exactly same problem... Just got free trial to look around a bit. If i decide to stay i will most likely reanimate my main account cause of all skills. Unless someone explains me how exactly somebody who knows EVE from deep beta can have more fun with a new char now (i doubt it).
Und tschuss!.. |

Thanks for the response guys, though I'm still not sure what to do. Guess I'm just going to go with whatever side gets the most points. Anyone else care to share their opinion?

Keep your main char and develop an alt. In a couple of weeks, you can have your alt flying a cruiser and using a mwd... but if you think its taking you too long to work up a new char, you still have your original to go back to.
You can transfer your isk and all your mods, ships etc to your new char, to give your new char a head start buying skills and stuff.

Look at your main char. If his attributes are good, keep him. Otherwise... start a new one.

Attributes are the key to how fast you train skills. Look at the primary and secondary attributes of the skill you are training. The higher you points are in those 2 attributes, the faster you will train the skill(primary the most important). Implants and skills can help increase you attributes alot. Hope this helps.

Yea, I don't know why I forgot that, lol... Well my character has high perception, since I wanted it to be a fighter.
