Now that the sale is done, can someone please let me know why would one spend 7 billion ISK on an item that makes at most 2.3 Billion ISK/Year?
I congratulate the seller, really do.

Maybe because there is too much isk in game and people have trillions idling on their wallets?
Maybe because they think their value will rise over time?
Maybe because they are dumb?
Maybe because they are ultra smart and know something others donŠt know?
Maybe because there wonŠt be more seeded and they expect subscribers number to go up exponentially in the next 50 years?

I think thats it right there, no more bpos seeded, and according to the devs at fanfest, no changes to the bpos that are allready ingame.
Congrats on the bpo purchase

i'd say that its someone that already owns a 250m bpo... if they have multiple copies they can control more of the market, meaning they can increase sell price of the item easier.

Joe, we all know that you have a bunch of T2 BPOs, so it is in your interests to perpetuate the T2 ISK printing myth, because of Invention the price of most T2 BPOs has dropped by at least 300% - 400%.
It is a complete reversal of what used to be, T2 Manufacturers had to keep a low profile and convince everyone that it was resellers who were making ISK and not BPO owners, now that Invention is in play we have to try and convince the public that T2 BPOs still worth their weight in gold in order to try and sell some of the more worthless crap.
He he he.... anyway, from my perspective, and I have no reason to lie, because I do not care about the dinky 250mm Rail 2 BPO....
The Seller made out tremendously on the deal, the BPO was not worth more than 3 Bill at MAXIMUM.
Congrats to the seller, and condolences to the buyer, unless he is consolidating like others suggested.

Since the playerbase continues to grow, and since T2 BPOs are limited in number and no foreseeable reseeding likely for years to come, they will continue to be overpriced from a business model perspective.
Unless you do not count the investment as something that should be earned back through production, but that can be refunded through liquidation when you grow bored with the profit you can make from manufacturing from the BPO.
Also they have tremendous advantages over producing through invention, and they could become much more valuable in future. The ability to print max run BPCs could for example be their main value when T3 invention becomes possible.
The bottom line is they are worth whatever people are willing to pay for them.

I had the ISK, I wanted the BPO. If I decide to sell it I'll probably get a fair amount of the invested ISK back... and my alt flies Thrashers.

Yestarday the seller asked for price of this BPO, I offered the price and he ACCEPTED. We decided to make a deal today, but he didn't do it and rejected all convo's The price for this BPO was lower than 7b. But not a lot.

I never mentioned profits, I never do, T2 BPO's have never really been about 'Isk per year', they're about owning a Limeted edition item, and owning one secures you, and your friends with a supply of that Item forever.
People who go on about 'Isk per year' returns and 'value' in Auctions should go and look at recent sales of things like Guardian Vexors .

Joe, it is not about owning a "unique item".... it is about cold hard cash, it always was. If people all of a sudden will stop buying Ishtars and I have a chance to buy "Crap-On- A-Stick" BPO that people buy, than I shall produce "Crap-On-A-Stick" to make the cash. We are not fooling each other, its all about the cash baby....
And Silver Magnates of course... there is your unique Item Joe...
