So you just bought that cool new ship for a crisp 125 mil and your ready to try out some test runs. You've worked hard for a couple of months to get the isk and finally pulled the trigger on the purchase and outfitting of her. Now your ready to blow some stuff away.
Before heading out you smartly jump into the Insurance office to make sure you're beauty doesn't get scratched, only the official says for 10 mil you can get 30 mil...
What! I just spend 125 mil not including mods and my insurance can fetch me a maximum of 30 mil...
Quite simply, the system is broken.
How it should be:
Insurance should have a flat cost based on the ship class and instead of giving you X% of the value in isk, you purchase X amount of months of insurance and get a full replacement. Now the bean counters down at the insurance office take a little time to verify your claim so your ship isn't replaced immediately, but upon 24 hours, 48 hours or even a week's time a brand new ship without mods is delivered to the station where you purchased insurance (or put your clone).
This would allow us pilots the opportunity to fly any ship we own in Missions or PVP without the fear of losing three months of grinding. Now I realize this has to be balanced to prevent from kamikaze pvp abuse, thus a delay on delivery of your vessel and 24 hours, 48 hours, etc should be plenty. Heck, you could have that as an option to upgrade for a cost in the insurance...
The fact that no isk is awarded would also eliminate the threat that someone builds and insures cheap ships only to blow them up for isk and everyone can let lose a bit more. I've literally watched 3 players quite the game after spending months to get a ship only to have it blown up because of inexperience, pvp or even concord errors. Wouldn't it be great if they were still playing.
Point is after spending months to get a ship that I can't insure for 1/3 the purchase price as it stands now, It's terrifying just flying an agent mission. Forget about PVP...
