Implants should not be produced by players.....
Its stupid to tie more things to the kiddy ore system when they need not be... besides implants are special.
bad idea but not quite as bad as the idea to have tech 2 comp. BPs.

Kal'rek, the controllers are used to provide employers with a more effective way of controlling thier employees.
I'd guess that they're in game for RP purposes, much the same as the Pax Amarrias, Khumaaks and Protein Delicacies.

Implants should DEFFINATELY be a player based item! So far this game is solely geared towards improoving ships. It needs a bit of diversity. Hell, anyone would make a vast profit from implants and that is just what I'ma gonn do 8)

Limit most of the compononts needed for it to be minerals, the rest tech2 agent drops stuff.

Why don't you think they are for rp? There have been four fluff news stories on the Transcranial Microcontrollers. They are also listed as a trade good.

How can there be too many implants out there, whena memory implants costs you ~20 M? The cost of being podded today with a full set of implants is ridiculous. A player controlled market where implants require mainly construction components, and a production cost of 2-3M would greatly benefit everyone in my opinion. As of everyone trying to get into the implant production busienss, of course they would, but if its handled as the tech II, not everyone could. In my experience player production prepares the way for a more stable market.

Currently the +3 and +4 implants are in game. They are all gotten from agent missions (level 3 agent missions only).
The problem is that some are way too rare imoho. Specifically int and mem. A +3 perception or willpower implant can be found as low as 4.5M from what I have seen. This seems about right to me since it keeps absolute noobs from getting them, but makes it affordable to get podded every now and then once you get a couple months under your belt and the skills to make the money to replace them.
The problem is the other +3 implants. Cha implant is non existant from what I have seen, this may be because no one really bothers to do the missions for them, but for whatever reason they are rare, and fairly expensive...but the prices i have seen on the few I have seen for sale vary widely. Int runs about 10-14M currently, and memory runs 14-20M (more often than not in the 17-18M range).
This is way too high. The number of certain implants comming into the game needs to be increased slightly because atm, no one with a full set of implants will risk them unless they happen to have a ton of cash, or another set waiting for their clone.
If they were brought more into the 3-5M range for all implants many more people would be willing to take risks with them. This would mean more miners out in 0.0, more targets for pirates, more demand for player made ships/goods as players would have to replace losses taken. As it is now though, how many people are going to risk a full set of implants (possibly) costing in excess of 50-55M isk?
I won't even get into +4 implant prices and availabity except to say I have only seen a handful of these for sale. I don't think anyone uses these on anything but station bound researcher/production alts. They are too rare, and way too expensive...but maybe the +4 ones SHOULD be that way...until better are released.

About the low prices on certain types of implants: Players prefer mostly to do mining- , and kill missions in stead of doing transporting missions. Those corp that gives that kind of missions give out Perception and Willpower implants. So that's why there are a lot of those implants on the market and therfore the low prices.

IMHO everything should be made by players. Implants, components, skills... the lot!
I've done 1000's of agent missions over the last year and they're an aweful way to supply the market with anything. Sure its fun getting excited about a cool mission reward but that doesnt change my opinion that 1) agents are boring 2) the 99% of the rewards suck and 3) its a bad way to seed the market.

No, instead anything beyond the base tech 1 NEEDS to be limited... Tech 2 isnt to replace T1 its there as a rare enhancement... OOHH T2 Ships etc how rare!
implants are the same way... producers produce something until its value is nil... its just they way they are.
