I heard in that they are planning it for a large patch/expansion. ETA on that?
Reading the info on the Jovians, I think It would be really interesting to see their space/technology/society.

I think it was mentioned in the last CSM that it won't be opened until post-Shiva...
When Shiva comes out is anyone's guess I think.

you have to love the fact that the CA own all the space on all sides of Jove.
If its ever opened whats the betting however that the 'backdoor' magically appears on the opposite side of the galaxy from us tho.

Next big patch is called Shiva due in May.

The same question was asked to Papa Smurf and in this weeks CSM and the response was that it will most likly be available in an expansion pack.
So that would be after Cali, i'd guess early 2005

Quote: semp > Jovian space? When will this be available to the players (expansion pack maybe)? And where have these odd-balls been...i can understand why they went into hiding after the miner 2 fiasco and then dropped back in again and gave some people a cold before disappearing again, but surely were up for more encounters soon?
t0rfiFrans > The Joves are watching us t0rfiFrans > They were instrumental in the discorvery of the POS and also present at the Crielere siege t0rfiFrans > Jove space will be a large future patch or expansion pack. We have big plans for it. It will be a whole new world. t0rfiFrans > Atm we want to make the present universe better and more fun and dynamic before we open up to a new one t0rfiFrans > But the Jovians are instrumental in the Big Plot(TM)

Yeh the jovians are the race that sucked me into eve too. If i could play one i'd happily give away my battleships and millions just to start in a noob Jove frigate.

I'll only love that fact if you don't stop non-alliance pilots from having a look see when it gets opened up. With Jove Spce being part of the 'Big Plot', its a bit worrying that there are 'regional shoot on sight' alliances all around it ----------------------------------------------- Improbable, not impossible.

Since cloning is Jovian tech and they imprinted some hidden 'features' it's a fact we're all controlled by them. Just like the Amarrian slaves are being controlled.

obviosly, we cannot jumpgate to it, but our ships do have faster-then-light drives......and, when a book mark goes wrong, you can point your self in one direction and carry on flying for as long as you like, to no destination.....
therefore, go to a system thats nearest to the jove space, set a coordinate (does anyone know how the coordinate notation works?) to point you in the direction of the nearest jove system, and start warping.
now, it will take a long time, even in warp. could even be months,...lets see....light speed is, I think, 0.002 AU per second....that means a frigate goes at 300X light speed. so, a light year can be travelled in just over a day
whats the distance bettween systems? well the sun is 4 light years from it's nearest neighbor
so, by that reconing, we can make the journey in 4-6 days
I think it can be done. --

I doubt it. Jumping via a jump gate loads you via the server into the next system. Therefor you can fly in one direction for the rest of your life you'll never leave the system your already in.
