Right now I'm flying a Stabber and I'm gonna start saving to outfit a Hurricane for low-sec battleship ratting adventures and maybe limited pvp.
I'm still fairly new so I wanted to post what I considered putting on and what you guys thought.
3 missile launchers (most likely heavy) 5 howitzers Warp scrambler Shield hardener Speed increasers Damage control Afterburner
This is roughly the ideas I have floating around. I haven't really checked all this to see if it'll make cap or be efficient at maintaining cap. Just wanted to get some ideas thrown in so if I'm going to invest all this money I'll get something decent.

First off, you're 15 days out, you're going to be murdalized in PvP to the max.
Second, I don't really have anything else to say.
Happy ratting.

Lolz, I know people who have been at it for a while. I'd go out with them of course.
If it's one thing I learned it's never trust anyone you don't know outside the game.

Edited by: SKINK0429 on 28/01/2008 08:51:43 I find this setup works for me 0.0 solo ratting, I warp to 500m of the bs Im targeting taking minimal damage, and shred it with the autos & assults. It can take down 3 BS spawns just about if you get it right and get close quick.
My setup is as follows:
High Slots
6 x 220 Medium Prototype I (very nearly the same damage as the 425 I) 2 x Arbalest Heavy Assault Missile Launcher I
Mid Slots
1 x Y-T8 Overcharged Hydrocarbon MWD I 1 x Fleeting Web Inhibitor I (Swap for J5 Prototype Warp Scram for PvP) 2 x Cap Recharges (best you can fit)
Low Slots 3 x Armour Hardners to suit role 1 x Medium Accomodating Vestment Reconstructor 1 x Internal Force Field Array I 1 x Photonic CPU Enhancer I
Rigs
1 x Nanno Pump 1 x Anti Explosive Pump 1 x Grid rig
Dnt use shield hardners the passive armour tank and AR are more than enough.

If you fly anything that doesn't use missles or speed tanks always fit a web. Fit AC's to the cane try to get close and kill. If you don't fit a web and use artys, I will use a locator agent and kill you with my rifter. Don't blame me, blame the main I'm supporting. |

A flight of T1 drones isn't enough.
Anyway, to the OP: don't use a Hurricane in low-sec until you really know what you're doing. If you need to rat, you can quite comfortably rat in a Rupture which is significantly cheaper anyway. Always use a PvP setup for ratting, and a larger ship w/out a MWD in low-sec is asking to die at the first properly camped gate.
Basically, search for Hurricane PvP setups, they should give you a idea (obviously, you won't be using T2 stuff everyone says you should, but the principle is mostly the same).

You wnt effectively tank more than 1 BS in a pvp setup Hurricane! There very different setups depending what rats you got? And I cnt see you solo ratting 0.0 in a rupture!

OP said low-sec. Re-read it
A cruiser can preety much rat in low-sec without any tank whatsoever, given the speed at which a properly fit cruiser melts rats.
I am *very* sure that a PvP-fit Hurricane could quite easily rat in 0.0 with a generic fitting (NPCs don't track that well at point-blank ranges really). Then again, I don't know much about 0.0 ratting admittedly - I've done some in two PvP fit Rifters (more gank-oriented fits ofc), and have done some solo in a gank-fit Wolf.

He mentions ratting BS's and if there is more than one BS at the belt in my experiance it is to much for a rupture! Yes you can rat in a pvp setup cane but unless you know what you are doing you can be toast very quickly if you get it wrong!

I got stuck ratting in 0.0 with a T1 Hurricane to repair sec quik. Fit was exactually a PvP fit close range AC's max dmg warp off warp in. Could take any amount of BS rats. That said always fit your ship for the unexpected. Lost my BC to a arse load of Zenobytes :/. Don't blame me, blame the main I'm supporting. |

Yes you can rat BS's easily with no tank warping in and out? But with a specific ratting setup tank for the type of rats you are killing, you can just tank the dps they give out no probs and not have to keep warping in and out. I guess an all round setup would be better if you dnt have safe 0.0 to rat in.

Mmm, yeah. He said 'low-sec battleship ratting' which is clearly impossible, I just took it as 'low-sec ratting' and ignored the battleship bit ;)
So, yeah, the OP is kindof confused about what he's going to do.
