I've been in the market (read: ummin''& aahin') for either a Navy 'thron or a Vindi for a while now but I can't seem to settle on one or the other.
My main prob here is that I can't seem to get the Vindi to out-perform the NM in EFT which seems to be in contradiction to all the Vindi raves I've read on the forums.
I have all the required skills to lvl 4 and a few to lvl 5. Am I missing something here or is the Vindicator mostly e-peen? Absolutely no offense meant to any Vindi pilots there 
Any help in justifying spending 800+ mil over 300+ mil for the hull would be most appreciated.
I should mention that whatever I settle on will by flown in gang PvP, Faction/Officer fitted and mounting Blasters.....still undecided on gank or tank

If the price tag don't scare you, the Vindi is better in PvP cuz of the extra mid slot and MWD bonus, the Navy is better for PvE cuz of the extra low slot (tho the extra HP are also PvP friendly)
Also, EFT #'s mean jack **** in actual combat.

The biggest issue with Armor Tanked Blaster pvp ships is their capacitor. They can tank and gank well but their cap has issues and needs to be micromanaged.
The vindi's MWD cap bonus + one extra midslot helps with the cap a lot :)
Price wise though..you can loose 2.5x navy mega's (not counting fittings) for each vindi you loose.
A navy mega can fit a better tank (active or passive buffer) due to its extra lowslot.

Thanks for your insight guys, it really helped......kinda I've started looking in to Marauders ie Kronos. Geez, where will it end?

Get a NM and spend the money saved on an LG-Slave set. 16k armor before plates/trimarks is sexy.

Don't forget that Vindi has the agility of a cruiser, that's a big advantage in blasterfights and counting this + the MWD bonus it's a lot better than the navy thron as a blasterboat. That's it.

From someone that got both Ships, Vindi and Navy Mega are quite diffrent.
Navy Mega:
+ extra Low
+ cheaper Fittings are quite possibly(actualy my Navy Mega with a cheap Faction Fit is about 700M in total, works without Domination Mods quite well)
+ a slight Armor HP advantage
+ more gank than the Vindicator in general
= advantage in Gank and a bit in Tank(mostly by the HP and the fact that you will throw in at least some cheap Faction Mods) to a standard Mega
Vindicator:
+ extra Med(causes CPU trouble)
+ more agile
+ fare more base cap(about 2k more than on the Navy Mega with the Minmatar BS SKill at 4)
+ better Active Tank ability because of the great CAP
- realy needs Domination Web and Scram also it begs for very expensive Mods to get a serious Tank that realy uses the Cap Advantage)
= very serious advantage in Tank and Agility, mostly less Damage than a standard Mega
Also it looks far cooler, for real the Texture Set on the Navy Mega sucks that bad that you switch back to the old grapics when you take it out of the Hangar.

Vindicator has been made redundant with the introduction of the Hyperion. They are practically the same ship; albeit the Vindicator is significantly more agile.
The Navy Megathron essentially has 9 low-slots in comparison to the 7 of the standard Mega; the '9th' slow is a built-in 1600mm plate. Very powerful, durable and also pretty cheap to get and fit well in a passive-setup.

used right the vidi is way better =)
better agility
better cap
navy mega is cheaper but can in theory tank better albiet not longer.

Lookin at their infor they weight the same, still, about 7 percent more than standart mega.
Align time, however is 16,4 for NM and 11 for Vindi and that's a lot more agility in general.
The problem is that a hyperion could tanks better than a Vindi and almost the same DPS. And it has more speed to compensate for the Vindi's better agility.

Navythron with a full set of slaves and trimark 1600mm plated are the GOD of all turtle gangs.
Vindicator is more for solo roam due to its agility and cap bonus. If you don't want to enter comedy killmail when you die, you have to pimp it like hell... And when you lose it, you will cry because it is just way too expensive compared.

he was right, for using in pvp you are much better going all out gank with they navy thron(huge armor buffer) and going all out tank with the vindi.

No you donŠt get me, undock the Vidicator it looks quite cool in space(exactly like the Serpentis BS). Somehow it looks a bit strange in the Hangar.
