Edited by: Marcus Ailichi on 28/01/2008 14:33:39 So far I've had no problem with any lvl 4 mission in my Ishtar, but this one is really tough, mainly because rats deal all dmg types (right?) and 5 lowslots is not enough for having good resists against everything with dual mar. Anyhow here's the setup I used:
[High Slots]
aggro gun etc, who cares
[Mid Slots]
4 x Cap Recharger II 1 x Large Peroxide Capacitor Battery
[Low Slots]
2 x Mar II 1 x Amarr Navy Explosive Hardener 1 x N-type Em Hardener 1 x N-type Thermic Hardener
Rigs are cap control circuit and aux nano pump, drones t2 ogres.
I'm going to upgrade all hardeners to amarr navy ones, possibly reps too. Any suggestions on this mission using Ishtar?
EDIT: I do have a domi sitting few jumps away, would it be enough with 2 x lar II's?

Edited by: Rezerwowy Pies on 28/01/2008 15:50:02 better try it on test server first. On EA5 you will have high explo dmg, i mean you should fit 3x armor explo hardeners, forget about thermal and em, ishtar have that resists good enought.

That fit looks like you'll have a lot of excess cap. Could you swap out a CR2 for an AB or the CCC for a nanobot accelerator?
Also, don't discount guns. If you go with the AB, fitting a couple of heavy modal electron blasters could increase your dps 15% with normal antimatter. You could even put a small blaster on there too. I don't know where your SP are, but it's probably still cap stable with everything running. Or you could go with 3 dual 150mm rails for more range, but that's a little tighter fit. In EA5, you want as much DPS as possible to minimize the tanking. |

I'm extremly short on cpu and pg, I can't fit ab or guns without taking out one armor rep. I tried the mission with t2 ab but those damn rats are faster than me even in cruiser... Also my sp is in drones mostly, gunnery skills aren't that amazing. I've got pretty good fitting skills tho so fitting guns to setup wouldn't be solved by training skills I think.
I guess I forgot to mention it on first msg, but the main problem is tank. The rats just chew thru it. I'll try 3x explosive hardener trick sometime.

If you always have a lot of cap with your setup, drop the CCC and put on another auxiliary nano pump or nanobot accelerator. That should give you quite a bit more tank and should still be cap stable even with Repair Systems at V and the two cap skills both at level II.
I'm concerned that your fitting skills might not be as good as you think. If a character with no skills could climb into an ishtar and fit your setup, he should only be 9 cpu short from trading out a CR2 for an a named AB.
When do you start having problems in the mission? Is it the 2nd spawn? 3rd? |

With empty high slots trading out a CR2 for an AB leaves plenty of room.)

I obviously have the cpu / pg skills at V but I guess I could train engineering upgrades ( whatever it is tha decrease cap recharger cpu usage) but it wouldn't matter since rats still go faster than me.
I have problems about as soon as I warp in, the shields are gone really fast and armor too even if I rep it with bot hreps. I possibly could kill enough ships before I go to structure to deacrease dps enough so I can tank em but the fact that I could lose my dear ishtar and the fact that mission is in lowsec systems adds a bit to pressure, making me warp out. I haven't tried it with 3 explosive hardeners yet, maybe then I'd do better.

EA 5/5 in a HAC should be doable, but I would not recommend it. You need to kill pretty fast so you dont get dual spawns at the same time, and HACs generally has worse DPS than BS.
Try to move around when fighting, you will be surprised how it affect the DPS you receive (long range BS rats will miss a lot).
Also, fit some 125 rails in topslots so you can kill frigs with your guns, and let your drones work on cruisers and BSes.

For those interested, I completed the mission with a mate, both of us in speed fitted Ishtars.
