The last one I submitted (on a crash) was rejected because there 'wasn't enough information'. I included a backtrace and everything, but apparently they wanted a statistical analysis of ship and station types. And a DXdiag file, even though I included the system/hardware information (yes, it was submitted under the linux section)....
If you'd like a bunch of pictures of graphical glitches I've sure got a folder of screenshots for you, but I would much prefer that debuggers spend their time fixing crashes. Graphics problems can be lived with.

Of course, the first bug report I submitted on a crash was rejected because there 'wasn't enough information'. I included a backtrace and all, but apparently they wanted a statistical analysis of ships and locations. And a DXdiag file, even though I included the system/hardware information.
Yeah, I hadn't really thought about trying that again.
Hi. Sorry to hear that a bug report you worked hard on got trashed. Did you not get a reason for it being trashed? If not can you please give me the ID of the bug and I will let you know the reason for it.
When it comes to the bug report the OP made, it lacked information about his computer specs. Waiting for an update there. Graphical glitches and flickering is very common on systems that do not meet the minimum requirements.
And about the stability issues people encounter. We are working hard on addressing these, we currently have a build in testing that we hope will greatly improve the stability of the client and hopefully eliminate most crash issues.
If you want to try it out and give us feedback, try logging on to our public testserver Singularity and try it out. Follow this link and download the current Tranqulity to Singularity patch. http://www.eve-online.com/patches/patches.asp?s=singularity&system=lin&edition=classic
Please note that, unless you install multiple clients and rename one of them, your current game client will not be able to connect to Tranquility. To get back to Tranquility you need to reinstall the game.
Also, if you are interested in giving us feedback and helping us improve the client. Apply to bug hunters: http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=692854

Which is exactly how you patch the Linux client.
1. Download the patch. 2. Open the EVE Online configuration tool, click "Install Game Patch", 3. Locate the downloaded file and click continue. 4. Follow the installation instructions. 5. Bug report any issues you encounter 6. Ask questions here. 7. Profit

Edited by: Ranlak on 29/01/2008 19:44:56 Sweet ;), sorry for my lazyness if this information is already available...
I will try the test version, and see if I experiences the crashes I am getting with the live one.

Hum okay, well the "latest" patch is not the same version as the server so I can't get to singularity. I have the version 4.10.46945 but singularity runs 4.10.47948. Is the client patch pending?

Singularity is currently being updated to the latest build: 47948 When the server comes up, the latest build will also be available for download. I'm pretty sure you will be able to use the in game autopatcher to get the latest version.
I'm planning on writing a "Howto connect to the test server" soon.

Just to get back to you about this, I tried to update the bug report but firstly adding new files to the report seems to be broken, and secondly pasting the information into the text boxes failed due to a 3000 character limit.
The final nail in the coffin for me to try to be a co-operative customer was the email I received after replying to a mail from [email protected]
"This recipient e-mail address was not found in the recipient e-mail system. Microsoft Exchange will not try to redeliver this message for you. Please check the recipient e-mail address and try resending this message, or provide the following diagnostic text to your system administrator."
The original output of lshw that I supplied will have to suffice unless you can give me an alternative.
There were no problems on the eve -config tests as I would have expected.

Ah, I've discovered the problem
The bug tracker web interface only seems to accept files that end in .txt
Sadly such things are often overlooked by us linux users, as file extensions are more for convenience than identifying filetypes :)
The requested files should be available shortly

Oh, it would help if the web interface reported an error to the user, rather than failing silently

Though I agree with you that it should tell you what is wrong, the instructions for adding attachments are quite clear, even if the wording could be better:
"Attach a Screenshot or File
You should always try to submit a screenshot [jpg format please], or a file (for example logs or dxdiag text files [all other files should be zip or rar format], see the bug reporting help page for more information).
By default, files attached to bug reports are limited to 2 MB. Please talk to a BugHunter if you need to submit more."
And let me remind all of you, if you think you would fit as a bug hunter. Please read and apply

What part of those instructions stipulates that files must end in .txt for text files? I can't see anything that specifies filename extenions, just content, so no the instructions are not really that clear. --- I use Gentoo/Linux and Gentoo uses software I write |

You can attach zip files and even .tar.bz2 ;) but they dont seem to like it ;)

The link indicated for classic patch 4594 > 47948 throws a CRC error when attempting to patch. I wasn't aware that the linux client (official) was capable of being able to do the testing...isn't this the windows classic patch??

I was wondering why I couldn't attach any logs. Maybe I should rename them all to whatever.log.gz.txt, haha. In another forum one of the admins posted a message that said something like "include a gzipped log file with your bug report because the text can get very long" so I scripted something to tell eve to log everything to a file and then gzip it every time I start the game. You guys should either allow files that end in .gz or specify that it should end in .txt on that bug report page.
I can try to find that post if you don't believe me, but I doubt it's really important.
