Hi all
I apologise in advance if all this seems like a tring of stupid questions but what the hell, I'm curious!
I'm looking into taking my character into a research side of things (still relatively new, 2 months, mostly mining and playing so far!) and was just wondering a few things.
Firstly, are BP Copies created through researcing Original BPs? And secondly, How are Original BPs obtained? Only through Trade/Agent Missions, or can you research to obtain them?

Tech1 BPos can u buy from market (under the blueprint tab)
BPcs can be created from BPos via a labslot in a station providing that service.
Tech2 BPos can be given to you by a R&D agent wich you are research with. That reqs. some special skills.
T2 BPcs can be made from those too but u need special skills and tools like R.D.bs and of course a lab slot.

But can you take an item and build a BP from it. Like a drone. Can you take a drone and make a BP for it?

Not yet - when reverse-engineering gets implemented you will be able to but that is coming soon (tm)

Last I knew 3 corps rumoured to have received this blueprint from back when the top cruiser rats dropped blueprints or high reward skill packs at a very random chance.
Reverse engineering skill entered the game the same way, and I would be pretty sure someone thought about reverse engineering harvester blueprints.

One question: Isn't reverse eng a process where u take existing item, dissasemble it and try to find out how it works so you can make plans for it/produce it? Is it posible to do such a thing in the game?

That is the idea behind reverse engineering yes. It is technically possibe in game but it is not supported with appropriate skills yet so even though the lab slots offer the option you can't actually do it.
Still it is a planned feature and will be implamented soon(TM)

Prokletnik yes, that is the intended use and it seems to be working on chaos, but there have been very very very few reverse engineering skill packs introduced into the game.

ok, thanx on info... I hope it will be introduced so we can get some bps from al that cool jove spaceships that will one day appear in our space :)
Btw, is there any way to actually rent one of the lab slots... they are all rented always 
If there could be some research stations with unlimited slots, but with much, much bigger fees to rent them that would maybe solve the problem

Sadly that means they are in use. Normally you may find that lower security status systems have some stations with labs available, often there are a lot of 0.4 systems with plenty of free labs, but hunting or mining in those belts if you are new to the game might be considered rather tough at times. Still its a place to look.

Unless I am mistaken, it is already introduced. You can reverse engineer items if you have the skill. There are very few people that have the skill, and they either bid a fair bit of cash or got very lucky.
