Bad idea, then every chance of losing something will be removed from the game. At least with implants it leaves a little risk to going into combat or flying low sec systems.

Very bad idea. I like the fact when I want someone dead, and they die, they lose a significant amount of money because of implants.

We need risk in this game, to be able to insure all, would mean no risk, bad idea. So Say I. Einheriar Ulrich of the Bloodline of Einheriar.

Personally I cant say it would bother me one way or the other what CCP decides to do. Some of the implants are fairly uncommon so as such I would say the pain in losing one is not so much the lost cash, as it is the hassle of having to locate another to buy (or waiting for your agent to p00p one out). Of course, most players that PVP a lot tend not to enter combat with a head full of hard to locate items. If they allowed insurance to cover the loss It would certainly remove some of the pain of death, but I have managed so far without the insurance I can say It wont hurt me to continue without it.

hehe, thanks I got a fair chuckle out of that one. The author of that link must be making a funny, because he improperly decoded the bars and spaces in the start, center, end codes of that UPC. Sadly though there are some folks that still believe that silly rumor. Actually I would be more concerned with RFID than some innocuous UPC code. Anyway, good laugh though.

From my experience, people from the northern parts of Europe speak exceptionally good English.
Anyway. I don't think insuring implants is a good idea. If you die while you have them plugged in, they are gone.
What I'd rather like to see is:
- Implants can only be plugged in (and possibly removed) at a station with a Medical facility. Removing should take a considerable slab of real time (3-6 hours maybe?). Both should cost money, increasing with the implant quality. I always found it weird that you can install something into your brain by just "plugging it in".
- At Medical stations, you should be able to extract implants from corpses, for the same amount of money but less time than it takes to remove them from someone living. I'm not a pirate lubber, but heck, they should be able to do that.
Ciao, Aronis!

Insurence, all good and well, Im more confounded with the way the skill works.
Cybernetics, lev 1 and you can stick in one basic of each, for the next higher level of implant you need lev 4 (standard?). After that you dont even need cybernetics.
Ok, the 3 better than standars arent ingame yet and thus probably will have their skill requirements looked over but to be honest, if basic needs 1 and standard(?) needs lev 4... dont really give much leverage.
I would have made cybernetics the base skill, one level allowes you to implant one device.
The secondary advanced cybernetics skill would be much higher rank (say 6) and split up the 5 different levels, want the +5 implant then you need advanced cybernetics lev 3, want the top notch one... well hello lev 5.
Once implant BP's hit the game, I sure hope they will, then this advanced cybernetics would be needed to build them.
But, going back to insurance... sure they are expensive but why make it so that you dont really risk anything from fighting?
Whats the fun in going to war if win or loose at the end of the day you have risked nothing?
