After reading all the propaganda on these forums i would like to know if any long running established corps exist who have dealt honourably with other corps.
For noobs trying to join a corp it would help if they could find out what they are getting themselves into - especially if the corp has made enemies in the past.
Do honourable corps exist?

Colossus Technologies is a corp established in beta, and has an unblemished reputation as far as i know. We never scammed, pirated or conspired to commit acts of treeason yet
The only thing that might be used to our detriment is us being in the Curse Alliance. Those arguments however are moot since we dont care, we're proud of being in Curse.
XTraders and Hegemonic Core are two other long time corps without any bad marks to their name. _______________________________________________

I heard someplace that your corp. agrees with snail fighting, which I find dispicable.
Not only that but you have been known to run said events on the 32nd day of every Month.
so for being honourable I have to disagree!

OMG, he's stalking me now !
Anyway, that X-Tech corp sounds pretty decent too, at least if they can manage that 30 million tritanium deal they do.

They were spamming all n00b corps with like 2 corpwide recruiting-mails per week hehe
Actually, there are few corps I know about that I wouldn't recommend anyone to join. All well-known corps are known and big just because of very good players leading the corp...
Problem for new players is rather that the big corps don't want to recruit new players... So they have to start in corps that none have heard of...

Colossus Tech will recruit new players.
It's a game after all, we feel like sharing fun rather than being too damn careful so you cant help any new players. I do understand the need for security tho, and expect new members to do the same.
Certain restrcitions may apply, but nothing serious. By all means come and apply. _______________________________________________

Nocturnus Angelus have existed for quite awhile now. We have more than 50 members and of these, almost all were new players when they joined us.
We have a very well developed program for our new members, and its easy for them to earn ISK and get help to grow quickly.
I certainly see NOAN as a very honorable organization.
We are a highly professional corp. And while we have room for nearly everyone, we especially cater to those who enjoy a high level of organization and efficiency.
We strive to create a fun and interesting corporation, that also participate in roleplaying with eachother and the EVE community.

Well, we do too, and I guess most do, but it's more a question of whether the new player will have fun in the corp. If the corp (almost) only live deep into 0.0 space, will the new player feel he "fits in" and enjoy it or more feel he's sort of a liability?
I'm sure players will learn much faster and have fun when joining a big established corp. But it's so much they will miss...
I mean, for me, first time after I joined a corp and we were trying to run a big mining op, that was fun. First time we went out into 0.0 space with a group of 3 cruisers and a bestower to kill NPC cruisers and get loot, damn that was fun. First time we went to attack a nearby corp... we came out of warp too far from the belt, they could flee and refit, and we got a situation were we were 4 cruisers and 1 frigate vs 6 cruisers and 2 frigates or something like that, oooh that was FUN.
If I was new to the game now, I'd rather want to enjoy such things, "playing at my level", rather than immediately join a corp where pretty much all I can do is either haul ore or be a disposable frigate that "always" gets blown up in battles.
Would of course be different if I knew another player in the corp.
My 2 cents.

Well I guess now I have heard someone say something bad about it although I wouldn¦t rank this among the worst that I have heard

To develop an appreciation for EVE and then the benefits of corporate support, I believe that all new players should spend at least 2 weeks as strugling freelancer. Learning to play eve by trial and error is the best way for getting the basics to sink in. I see too many people today who started eve in a large corporation with all of the basics spoon fed to them and now they have 6 mil skill points and dont even know how to buy anything off of the market or use the map.
Develop the skills for independence before joining a corp. Eve will be much more rewarding.

Pretty much what I said.
1. Play solo for like 2 weeks.
2. Join a smaller corp that is playing at your level.
3. When you feel you have "grown out" of that corp you start looking for a more established corp, or if the whole corp is doing fast progress, you start looking for a merger into an established corp or a membership in an alliance (or if you maybe want to continue to try and build up a new big corp).
The difficult part would be to find a good corp in step 2... And I'm afraid these forums won't help many players with that.

Edited by: Isaac Hunt on 26/03/2004 22:13:37 Wel depending on what you wanna do I'm sure there are some 'specialised' corps out there for small time PvP or even large scale PvP in frigs/cruisers (merc frigs for example) who you can join for that aspect with limited skills and funding, or small/medium sized corps where you arent just either a number or a mining/hauling slave earning isk for the CEO where you can deciede if you like that aspect of the game or not and change your style if you dont.
Alternatively join multiple corps and if you only get a couple of days worth of knowlage from one and then leave because you dont enjoy it and join another you learned something usefull to someone or learned you dont like X aspect of the game.
As for honour in corps I suppose that depends on where you sit, as some corps might be frowned upon for their business deals others for who they attack but they arent being dishonourable as they see it, but from another perspective they might be.

I am biased...but Old Farts comes to mind. In addition, formerly Miners Unlimited, and definitely Hooded Monks. There are actually a fair amount out there, but I think very little of the gaming community post to these boards and continue merrily on their way without causing so much of a ripple on these forums.

Rona is always willing to employ players new to Eve, as well as seasoned pilots. We have several divisions, ranging from the academy to the PvP wing, with opportunities for all (pirates need not apply) Contact any member in local for more info or just to say Hi

for honourable corps that are long established look to FA. Being anti-pirate they have a reputation of being fair and keeping their word, FA is also open to pilots at a small charge which is far more than most other alliances. saruman all you need to do is look around there are lots of honourable corps as well as dishonourable 1s
