Not the deep 0.0 ores like spodumain/bistot/etc.
Not the empire space ores like plag/scordite/veldspar/pyroxes.
But Hedbergite, Hemorphite, Jaspet, and Gneiss lack value for the risk it takes to get them. Its one of the reasons why people mine in empire space--Scordite is worth 80% of what Jaspet is per m3.
Here's my idea:
Raise Omber mineral yield by 20%. Raise Jaspet mineral yield by 60%. Raise Hedbergite/Hemorphite/Kernite/Gneiss mineral yield by 100%.
That simple. This alone will cause a huge migration of miners into near-empire 0.0 and 0.1-0.4 systems.

And at the same time that would leave asteroid in 0.5+ for newbies to mine, instead of empty asteroid belt. --------------------------------

Maybe if the asteroid respawn was such that there actually was any Hed, Hem or Jas in 0.4 to 0.1 more people would mine there.
I would say that well over half of the belts I check have already had these rocks mined to pebbles.
The there is the fact that these are the ore's that are regional not all can be found in all regions.

Not true. My corp is based in a portion of Sinq Laison and there are THOUSANDS of jaspet roids EVERYWHERE.

Back in UO, for the first year or so, there wasn't enough ore to go around. Miners had to scratch around like roting pigs to find any metal. Then origin just bumped up the respawn rate on ore, and life was good. It didn't hurt the economy.

This idea have been bouncing around for quite some time.
It would also require rare ores popping up randomly in the otherwise useless 0.0 space like most Syndicate space, not massive belts just the odd rock to make it a viable option.

Edited by: Haratu on 27/03/2004 03:36:07 Omber is present in 0.5+, look for it.
However I do agree, I mine pyroxeres/kernite instead of Jaspet simply because it is safer to mine in 0.5/0.6 space. There are simply too many powerful npcs (and pcs) in 0.4 space for a freelance or small corp cruiser to be bothered with it.
EDIT: I like Danton's idea... might be wise to put that in the idea lab, I will do that now.
I roleplay... there is this computer game called "Earth - The First Genesis" where i play a character in the early 21st century. |

Oh it's been there a couple of times, think it was Sarah Kerrigan who posted it last time around.

Yup, omber is all over 0.5 if you look in the right places.

Ok I've been living in 0.0 for a while now, and we have yet to do one single mining op due to the roids that present throughout the entire Constellation.
Nothing but Veldspar, some Jaspet, a little pyro, and a touch of Plag.
I mean seriously theres absolutely no point of wasting my miners time mining that crap which takes several protection BS off the hunt to protect for straight crappola ore.
Why aren't the medium ores of any kind present here? We want to see some Hed, Hem, Kern, Gneiss.
I mean geez its 0.0 shouldn't there be better ore than 0.1-0.4???????
Could be a big reason why ppl don't come out to 0.0.

And for all those who gonna say "Well you haven't looked hard enough".
yes, I do know where the Bistot, Spud, Crokite, and all the other goodies are. Just that the current placing of roids is super super unbalanced. If you were to try to have a corp support itslef in 0.0 , in bout 3 constellations you can't.
And what if we don't want to move out to Major alliance areas? Well you have no choice to stay empire side if you want to eak out aliving. I prefer 0.0 for the exitement of pvp opportunities.
But at the same time, I see greater risk for way less isk.
This will ruin the game eventually, if ppl have no choices in where they can reside due to bad design.
Medium ore should be present throughout all the inner 0.0 systems HEM, HED, KERN, GNEISS. And maybe an occasional SPOD rock.
Rare ore should be in deep 0.0.
