Why?
What would be the benifits? How much would it cost? Is there an ongoing expense? How long would it take? Where can it happen? How do your enemies attack it? Are there any other risks? What impact will it have on the economy? Will it result in griefing? Will skills be needed? How Many? How much micro management will it require? How will it interact with my corp? How will it interact with my alliance? How will I defend my planet? Where will the colonists come from? Do they die? ... ç¦ |

Because CCP has not yet implemented planetary interaction.

Colonization would be an interesting feature, provided it was restricted to 0.0
Because honestly, I think any habitable planets/moons in empire space would be colonized already.

These questions have answer but will CCP take hands on this?

I mean so simple things like a "planets window" where you can interact i.e. for: -see colonized/colonizable planets stats -send passangers to colonize a planet (creating a real npc market for trade goods) -manage the construction of cities building structures -set up factories and manage them for get benefits -form armies composed by marines, combat vehicles...) for defend it from other possible colonizers or attack colonies

1.What would be the benifits? -The benefits would be a bigger gameplay opportunities between other things.
2.How much would it cost? -To CCP I dont know I hope not much, for us something more than 500mill to accondicionate the planet and a couple of diverse passangers to colony it, also some army if you want to defend it.
3.Is there an ongoing expense? -It depends how the things goes, the planet conditions for auto sustain, the wars, the industry in other planets...
4.How long would it take? -Colony a virgin planet with optimal conditions for life not much than other wich needs an optimization for human life or that is colonized yet and you send an army to conquer it.
5.Where can it happen? -It can happen anywhere in eve.
6.How do your enemies attack it? -Sending their armies to the planet, breaking his trade routes...
7.Are there any other risks? -Yes, poblation has no trade goods like essential food they leave the planet and you lose it.
8.What impact will it have on the economy? -The trade goods, passangers, commodities, and other stuff will get a real function.
9.Will it result in griefing? -Sorry I dont understand that question.
10.Will skills be needed? How Many? -Yes,so many as CCP wants.
11.How much micro management will it require? -It will require at least a "planets window" where you can manage all.
12.How will it interact with my corp? How will it interact with my alliance? -Perhaps like POSes interacts.
13.How will I defend my planet? -With army, population, trade goods providing,...making be happy to your poblation.
14.Where will the colonists come from? -They are passangers/other planets poblations.

my ideas on how planet colonization are as follows
Each planet has a loyalty level which determines how loyal they are to the current people hold control over the planet to capture a planet for your self you must reduce this loyalty for the old owners and then increase it for your own alliance or corporation.
To reduce loyalty there are several ways the first could be bombardment, this would be the most extreme way and would require say tier 3 battleships (maelstroms, apocalypse, ect) or bigger (capital ships) fitted with new weapons designed to bombard planets.
This would kill of a large proportion of the people on the planet and destroy most buildings, obvious way to stop this is to send ships to fight off the attacking ships -would also like to mention that planetary bombardment is not a 5 minute task it takes a while to be have full effect, this also gives the defenders chance to fight back.
After bombardment there is a land invasion you send down troops -several types of troops and vehicles with different skill levels and price- you can choose a type of attack for example kill 10% of population destroy buildings or just kill off any hostile troops in the area. To fight back against a land invasion you can set up your own troops and structures to fight back agesnt the enemy -though with a bombardment this might only hold them back until you can send in reinforcements-.
Both of these factors will reduce the loyalty in the controlling corporation as they are not strong enough to defend them when loyalty reaches 0 they rebel against the defenders and control is lost the attackers can now use there own soldiers to gain control of the planet.
When a corporation has control of a planet they are able to build various structures from mines, factories to defence posts to get the most from the planet. The corporation can also bring in new workers to help repopulate what was lost in bombardment these new workers can be paid or be slaves -the slaves are free workers and work harder then normal paid workers as they are forced to the disadvantage is that slaves are illegal in most empire space and also there loyalty quickly shifts compared to paid workers- you will also be able to set your own garrison of troops on the planet maybe even training the population to fight themselves -or sending them off to other locations to defend or attack-. Loyalty is gained over time the longer you control the planet the more loyal the people. The speed at which loyalty is gained can be increased by several ways more guard posts less taxation, paid workers instead of slaves and general acts of kindness to the people, there are also more cruel ways to force the people into loyalty for example public executions and such which scare the people into being loyal.
You should be able to travel down to the planet on small ships mainly fly over your cities and then walk around a few areas -not the whole city as this would be far to big- for example the main offices from these offices you can run the planet daily/weekly operations from taxing the people as well as managing workforce for mining and factory operations.
