Okay i know there is already another post about this in the Corporations forums ... but i thought it would be good to have it in here aswell.
Celestial Apocalypse is proud to present our first movie.
This was edited together by myself with some help from R3d Dragon from footage shot during a 14 vs 14 Fleet battle in K5-JRD. The footage was shot mainly of R3d with a little being contributed by Rath Amon.
Any "constructive" critisism would be welcome (not the ATUK kind) as this has been my first bash at making a movie.
I hope you all enjoy. ___________________________________________

Ok movie, nice sound track and some scenes were ok but for the most part it seemed to be watching the string of lights flying in both directions from sets of brackets.

Hehe yeah Long range fleet battles suck and dont look nice on video ... close up fights are the most exciting kinds (and the best from a movie point of view). ___________________________________________

When is someone going to come out with a good movie? I dont know what's so great about looking at purple blobs shooting white blobs at orange blobs. There where only a few close ups of BS getting pounded. How about closing in on a ship and paning the camera around so that the image has some movement?
anyway just my 2 cents

To get the shots you require invloves watching the other guy's ship, at the expense of watching your own, and what's going on around you.
In a fleet battle, that is generally coined 'suicide'
I proposed the idea of a 'fps-style' demorecorder feature that would basically capture the data stream from the server, for later playback. You could then record the action from pretty much any angle and/or ship. A very cool idea.
Unfortunately, this would require a demoplayer client to be built, as you wouldn't be able to play these streams back on the eve-client itself.
The amount of work this would take the devs is rather large, and tbh, I'd rather they spent their time fixing and improving the actual game.
if you want some close-up stuff, try my videos. you will see what happens when recording comes before fighting at the end of video 4 part 1. I wasn't paying attention to my surroundings, and ended up running directly towards ome rather hostile sentry guns. .

Are you serious? Jokers have good close up movies ... there are alot of other good movies out aswell check out the community video section. For second what do you goes thru someones mind during a fleet battle? "should I reload my launchers & guns ... oh wait no I will just twirl my camera round because it will look good" ___________________________________________

Drunk i should have convo'd you to see if i could get some pirate perspectives from that fight that would have been well cool, specially since every time you warped in you got targetted by us all .... instant 14 red boxes.
What confuses me is that at the beginning of the fight and adding up all the people on your side there are 14 of you ... we took out poor Tenacha & a BB, put Persephone out of action (love the smoke) but towards the end there were like very few on your side. I mean some of the shots only have like 6 of you .... where did the rest go? ___________________________________________

Edited by: Lifewire on 27/03/2004 01:37:43 I like the video and celest are fair enought to show that we are no cowards and fight outnumbered. The second 20-ship-Norad-fleet shoulnd have jumped in (can not be seen in video) - would have been interesting what would have happened when Celest would have been low on ammo. The video is a great training video for admirals - it shows how much useless missiles are in long range combats and how much Caldary suck now with their totaly nerved ships in fleet combat. In normal cases a 14 BS, 1 cruiser fleet should destroy a 9 BS and 4 cruiser fleet in 15 minutes. To be true: it should be impossible at all for a cruiser to survive 15 minutes fleet battle - vs a 100% Caldary fleet...they can.

Myabe celest should hire or make an alt to get some good shots of the larger battles. Somone that is not going to be a target in a fight?

To a point agree lifewire. Caldari missle boats are only really useful for short range enagements (they are supposed to be long range for RP purposes), that can be seen when tenacha warps back in and is 40km from most of our ships (instead of the normal 100km when you all warped in to start with).
I also made a vid about taking my caracal (wont post it here cos the quality is crap) into battle and it shows how fast a cruiser dies after about 7 torps hit it ... since most people want to get the small easy to kill ship first.
I still cry when i think of my lovely carcal

Well, the best chance of getting a REALLY good movie would be for some people to agree on a battle ahead of time, and set up 1-3 people in frigate as 'cameras' for it. Now THAT would be a video

I just could not help myself=)
The reason why I warped in and out was beacause I kept ctding, but when i decided to fight I knew this...but again I could not helpmyself...its a pitty I do not have the bandwith to upload the screenshots to show it from my side, much less download your movie
Watching all my nice expensive mods go boom is fun to watch btw..I heard you didnt get the can
I do expect bounty hunters to make their isk, its a pity ccp dont make a skill or something that insure a majority of cans/mods/corpses survive the ordeal

bah stereotypes suck
From our experiences with celes so far they rely heavily on scouting with alts. Might it not be possible for the scout to sit nearby any battles we have with fraps running? In empire space the scout would be safe to focus on getting some decent footage.
Well it seemedconstructive - go figure

Guys, heres a little tip, in that battle, i was suffering from serious lag, to even get anything close to a good video was totally amazing.
Im sure i was down to 0 FPS at some points, as for running fraps at the same time, omg.
iv never seen a fleet engagment caught on Vid, for obvious reasons, this is a first and it was a very dangerous choice, due to CTDing.
as for the comments on missiles used, all the guys have diff races of ships, when we mett up, i was shocked to see we were all in caldari, no biggy, as missiles are easilly made.
it was fun, and lasted alot longer than the video.
iv seen a few Vids of 10 ships ganking 1, and they are boring as hell, we decided to capture a fleet battle.
thanks to R3d Dragon, Dark uncle, and Zarquon.
and also thanks to our opponents, always a pleasure to fight good guys, with no smack.

Just downloading now :)
I think LL recorded the celest/r-k battle against pirates in ewok-k a while back which was quite a large number of ships. But then he's mad and records everything... He's probably got trades and agent missions on video "just in case" :P
DrunkenMaster: A demo playback/record option would be awesome, but as you say unlikely :( I remember how long it took valve to implement their demo mode where you can view any player from any angle or in eyes. Made video making a lot more fun and intresting when you cut together multiple perspectives :)

To defend this nice Celest video...
I think all these fight are so boring...canŠt some1 make a cool video of a nice mining op in 1.0 or perhaps 1 of these action filled runs in empire space. I would like to see a Bestower to transport a load of Noxium - this would be great - i want to see the real EVE life
