In my opinion, smartbombs seem like the one module in the game where overloading makes sense, and yet, you can't overload them. I don't care if overloading them makes them do more damage, or increases the burst radius, or decreases the cycle time... something would be better than nothing.
I want to be at the epicenter of overheated explosions! Hell make it so that if you blow a smarty out from too much overloading, it literally explodes, the module is no more, and your ship takes damage.  Why there should be a breathalyzer to login to Eve:

I would much rather like to see the option to overload them, combined with either a new ship type or change a crappy one, with smartbomb bonuses (af`s anyone?)
like a fitting bonus, damage bonus, range bonus, whatever.
and some dmg mods for smartbombs as well

That would be pretty cool. Theres a few more mods that can use overloading, like sensorboosters and tracking comps.
Also, please CCP, balance heat. As it stands now defensive modules (bosoters, reppers) get both a cycle time reduction and a rep amount increase..wheres guns only get one of each :S Way to buff tanking.

SHHHHH, they could nerf reppers to fix it. Don't want that.

The only problem with making smartbombs overloadable would be balancing them at the low end (ie. making overloading useful) without making the officer smarties you see fitted to every capital excessively overpowered. (although I'm all for the very top end stuff being much more expensive and better, just I never want to see a mom with 5 smartbombs dealing dps in the thousands from them or in a range in the 80+ km)

You know, if you could get some sort of stupid high bonus out of overloading smartbombs would be awesome ESPECIALLY if it blew up my ship. I would totally jam as many as I could onto my ship along with a cloak and SSSBIED the hell out of people.

I must admit, I am amazed as many people agreed with me as they did. Smart bombs seem to be a very niche module, used by either the foolhardy or the brave, depending on both your perspective and the sec rating you call home.
The thing that appeals to me about smartbombs are their unforgiving, unrelenting nature. You know that when you activate one, if you have the necessary cap, it will go off, and it will strike everything in it's range, regardless of ewar. Well, it doesn't hit wrecks, cans or corpses, but that's a good thing IMO
