What's the best way to hide valuable cargo on a frigate to prevent hi sec suicide gankers to attack my ship? (I never use autopilot anyways)
Do secure containers in my cargo hold are scannable? can I rely on them to hide valuable items?

Your secure containers will show up in a scan, however, I believe, not the contents.

Yeah, the trick is to move fast... but you know, often gf reclaims some attention by sitting in front of you, or I have lag when entering a system...
So I was hoping to be more secure in those circumstances

It would be best to send a scout ahead to make sure there is noone around with a scanner and if there is then you will need to call for an escort or make a detour --Bird of Prey: Forum God

Ceptor with agility rigs is quite good. Or, something that people usually don't use for transport, such as a blackbird/scorpion, which has an added bonus of being able to jam tacklers when being attacked.

Its always a good idea to hide tech II BPOs in the corgohold of frigates that can be one-shoted.
Why use a battleship that cant possibly be ganked in high sec if its tanked?

i carry everything valuable in a Moa. i find people instantly feel sympathy for me and can't bring themselves to shoot me. _____________________________________ today i am this cool: [uncool]================[*]====[cool]

My alt just cant use frigs and industrial :P. I move valuable assets but not extremely valuable assets anyway. Usually just not enough to justify the loss of a BS taking into acount that lots of items will be destroyed.

Edited by: Qianzing Yanshu on 30/01/2008 11:59:04 flying valuable things around in a frig is quite risky in any way.
Ever thought about undocking from Jita 4/IV in a frig and running into 30sec lag and one of these "Today, I get the Concord-Fleet record"-kids with an all smartbomb-fitted BS? Yeah, thought so.
So what should be different from this when jumping into a BS standing 5001m away from a gate and awaiting your arrival? I once was destroyed and podded in Low-Sec by a Mothership with faction/complex Smartbombs... just because of lag...
If you have to transport something that you don't want to loose, then take a ship with a decent tank! Best is a completely passive tank (for example: drake) as it is not impaired by lag.

Solution 1) Live with the fact that it's russian roulette every time you go through a gate, in High Sec, at least it's russian roulette with an automatic
Solution 2) Dump the girlfriend - she'll just hog all your MMO time anyway.

use inty`s with cloaking device, or coverops ships, or the recon ships, i think this is the saves way to transport BPO`s and some other expensive thinks

A cheap solution is a Tormentor with three inertia stabs, nice cargo space for such an agile ship. Don't use autopilot and keep going.

Hold the MWD key down and use a frig. They may get a lock, but they probably won't be able to digest what's in you cargo bay fast enough before you're gone.

i always use something that nobody sane would ever use for moveing something worth anything...like mining frigs...

Yes. You have to have a container jettisoned and anchored for it to be secure. Otherwise, the password just doesn't do anything (except in the hangar, perhaps).
There is no way to hide or protect items in your cargo from pirates. PERIOD.
Except by not getting caught in the first place, of course.
If everyone could hide and lock up their **** on their ship all the time, do you think pirates would even be able to play the game? Everyone would be doing it all the time. ________________

Yes. Once they scoop the containers, they can take what they like. I'm not sure about audit log secure containers, but at the very worst they'd have to wait 3 weeks before they could repackage the container and get at the contents.
There's only one undetectable means of moving a blueprint: start a job with it inside a mobile lab (with the BPO actually in the lab, not remotely researched) and then unanchor the lab and scoop it. The downside is that labs take up 3000m^3 each, but you can move as many BPOs as you like inside 1 lab if you queue enough jobs up.
The last time I tested this, the BPOs didn't show up on scan results. Only the lab was visible, and it was indistinguishable from a lab without any BPOs inside it. My research services Spreadsheets: Top speed calculation - Halo Implant stats |
