The flaw in the reasoning is pretty obvious to me, and I highlighted where it occurs. Armor and shield tanking are not balanced, armor tanking is far more popular, and so there is no call to nerf explosive resistance on shields to balance things. Nerfing EM armor resists alone brings balance between armor and shields. Nerfing both keeps them unbalanced.
I mean I really don't get it. You correctly identified the problem, but then the solution gratuitously perpetuates it!
Also, shields are the only defense that has one damage type at zero base resist. Armor at least gets 10% to it's weakest resist. Shields get nothing for EM. Nerfing Explosive as part of the Amarr rebalance is simply a foolish consistency.

EM resist never wass a issue apart from on 92.5% em resist ships.
Doing 0dps due to no cap and Armour Compensation skills prenerf broke Amarr Damage as before Armour Compensation skills, EANM issues did not exist. Sig locked, lack of Eve content |

Guess what T2 Minmatar ships are armor tanked?
Wolf Muninn in rare cases (95% of the have no tank when arty setup)
Thats it. A single assault frigate.
Amarr have the best short-term DPS and tanking capabilities; and can do either very well when focused (but not both for any decent amount of time). Amarr is fine, it's just a large number of raving fools that have been convinced by these forums that it is otherwise.
And before you go 'hurr hurr u dat dem dere must fly gellte/mintar/cadary derp', last time I checked there is no class restriction in place in EVE. It takes a whole month to train a race's guns to large, and another one to fly all their sub-BS T2 ships.

I dont care about minmaters as I want their guns to start using cap to be balanced with other turret races. I stated Armour Compensation Skill sare broken due to prenerf, and CCP are trying to fix their own Prenerf problem by ading a new problem.
just delete Armour Compensation Skills or un-nerf it and EANM ends overnight, just like how EANM did not exist prior to RMR expansion Sig locked, lack of Eve content |

And Amarr T2 ships have high resists too... must suck trying to get through T2 resists.
But I digress, the main issue is that a lot of Amarr T1 ships (with lasers already being a subpar weapon) just couldn't cut it against the high armor em resists on many npc rats and on other player ships. Oh well.
BTW: I met a hurricane the other day that, after cutting through the shield, his armor stayed at 90% and didn't move. YAY em damage.
This, in the end was a poorly implemented change, while not entirely unfounded-- lowering shield resists further was unwarranted... I like that em resist on armor was lowered, but explosive on shields is rough... any race (other than Amarr because we can't make weapons that explode apparently) that might possibly have to worry about using explosive damage against shields has viable options to change to... Amarr? we can't change out from using a 70/30 EM/Thermal weapon... yay laserbeamspewpew. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Well, that should've worked... |
