I'm going to be buying a laptop, hopefully one that will run eve. But I've never owned/used a laptop, so I have no idea what I'm looking for. What are good brands? The bare minimum it will have to work for small group pvp, and level 4's.
It also had to be able to do basic stuff, like printer port, and reading/writing CD's. Because I also plan to use it for school.

The best laptop on the market is the MacBook Pro. It is THE best at running Vista. Oh .. it comes with OSX if you like that sort of thing.

Edited by: Arcane Carnage on 31/01/2008 01:38:26 I would genuinely recommend that u get a desktop for dedicated eve gaming (as the spec will be much higher for the same cost.)
After that little gem of information i would like to say that i am posting this on a laptop with an eve client minimized :D However i bought the laptop for other purposes and it just so happens it runs a classic eve client very smoothly in small-medium engagements.
My advice would be get a desktop for dedicated eve gaming as your unlikely to get a laptop that runs a premium client or handles well in laggy conditions i.e jita or a fleet fight for less than an arm and a leg.
A brand i would recommend would be dell as they seem to do some pretty good lappys for stupid money. -

I do appreciate the advice, but I already have a Desktop, which runs Eve well. The Laptop I'm getting mainly for school, but I would also like it to be able to play Eve. And I also was not clear enough. I only want it to run the Basic client well. I don't care if it runs the Trinity version or not.

Edited by: Gremrod on 31/01/2008 02:48:31 Well, if your getting a laptop for school and want to play games on it. I would look at the Dell XPS laptops. Really depends on how much your willing to spend.
My main rig is a Alienware ALX 19" screen SLI dual nVidia cards. I love the laptop but I hate dealing with Alienware. Basicly the laptop I bought is a freakin desktop setting on your lap!!!
Even though I really do not like Alienware's customer support etc. I would look at some of their laptops. You don't need to get the extact one I got unless you want to spend around 5K on a kick butt laptop.
EVE looks freakin awesome on this my lappy.....

Best bang for buck.. get a Dell Inspiron 1520 or 1720... the geforce 8600 GT lets you play with premium graphics at a nice frame rate 60fps with HDR off, 30-40 with HDR on at 1920x1200 resolution... less than $1000 |

I have a Dell Insperion 1501 that plays eve in classic mode perfectly. -- Sig Under Construction |
