Ok, this is a noobish question but so far i've failed to find a definitive answer so here goes...
If i fly a laser fitted ship and plan on doing a lot of missions what agent would give me the "easiest" NPC's to defeat? Will i be better off by doing missions for Amarrian agents regarding NPC damage resistance etc?
In short: Which mission rats will melt fastest in front of my lasers?
Thanks /Sox

You will do very well against Blood Raiders and Sansha. Serpentis and EoM won't be too bad, but any mission against Guristas or Angels will be quite painful.
Your best bet would be to run missions for Amarr. I currently run lvl 4's for Khanid and get a pretty good mix of all the different factions and usually turn down any against Guristas. Its beer o'clock. Where's my riot? |

Do Amarr or Ammatar missions and turn down Guristas/Angels missions as they take 3 times as long if you can even finnish them.

Thanks for the speedy replies, much appreciated! Blood, Sansha and Drones are me next "victims" then!
Any other hints or suggestions on how to deal with missions as a primarily laser user (with quite crappy drone and missile skills)?
[rant] Oh, and btw... Real men and women use lasers! Missiles are for n00bs - No skill required (TM) [/rant]

Gurista missions take forever in laser ships. Even in my Abaddon with Amarr BS V and near maxxed gunnery skills, the damage just isn't there. Drones help a little bit, but it is still slow. Maybe an Armageddon with heavy drones would be better, but not sure if you can tank some of the missions in a Geddon.

I don't really agree with those saying you'll struggle to kill guristas, I haven't fought them in a while but they die just fine, not as fast as sanshas and blood raiders, but a whole lot faster than angels, which are the only race I have any trouble killing.
The only thing that makes guristas take ages are the jammers, which is why I haven't fought any in ages, as I refuse to! - Sig follows:

Lasers combined with railguns are the best for me (very effective shield and armor killers) the combinations with the different crystals-ammos allow you to setup a big variety of ranges-damages. Medium and heavy lasers are my best friends (don't need ammo but need cap resources) along with some nasty drones.

With a beam fitted Harbinger I never had problems killing any rats. And I am doing missions for Gallente, so get a lot of Serpentis and Angels, with Guristas and EoM added occasionally.
But true, I do see a difference in mission speed when I meet EoM or Ammar ships in missions :).
For easiest, go with Ammar agents.

The rat resistances really only have a huge influence in lvl4 missions where you are up against a lot of battleships and sometimes bunches of HACs. Anything below BS has so low total resistances that the difference between high and low resist is not nearly as significant as with high resistance totals. Like the 30 absolute percent difference between 49 and 79 (top end BS) mean you do 2.43 times more dps against the weak resistance. Whereas the same absolute 30% between 30 and 60 (top end BC) mean you only do 1.75 times more dps against the weak resistance.
There is no 'n' in turret There is no 'r' in faction There is no 'a' in Scorpion There is no 'e' in Caldari There is no makeup in rogue drones |

Does the region of space you are in also influence the faction your agent puts you up against?

I think it's just the agent - when I run missions for gallente agents in caldari space I fight lots of serpentis.
