I look forward to the time when you stray into a system we're in and it is I that gets the hatemail for podding you - I imagine the whine will be well worth the read...
I hope it happens before you leave to go play wow - since that is clearly the game for you, and every other whiner like you.

Nononono no! What you need to do is take it up to +5.0, exemplary citizen, and then write up an RP story involving you and heads of state (I'd say Kings/Queens/Princes, but we don't have that here) whereby they recognize your good deeds and selfless acts, beknight you, even have the odd illicit/romantic affair so you could some day lay claim to succession... and THEN you go nuts and pod everyone again.
So that, when you're back to -10.0, you can have a true, I say TRUE, story to tell that really (RP) happened to you while you were a carebear, and perhaps a locked chest with mementos (someone's perfumed napkin, their palace silverware, shrug) to show to any doubters.

pvp does not equal "non-carebear"
indeed most of the complaints I've been seeing about pvp lately are because it now involves its own share of carebears.
carebear is simply a state of mind in which people wish to engage in a certain practice ( mining, mission running, PVPing, low sec exploration ) WITHOUT the associated risks or in such a way as to remove the associated risk via exploitive methods.

"I hear rumors that CCP would like to get more people out of congested empire space. But they donĘt do anything to encourage it."
What, like tell people how to run their alliances?
Consider this: you're in an alliance that's just fought a long and bloody campaign to secure some 0.0 space. You've lost billions in ships and spent weeks doing it. You've run late-night ops to take down POS, engage the enemy, wear him down and break his morale. You've spent vast sums on POS to secure sovereignty, spent long hours shooting then repping outpost shields and services, then spent even more on POS to secure outlying systems, all the while constantly fighting incursions from other alliances, probing for weak spots, hoping to relive you of your hard-won prize.
Then you see on the forum a post like yours: WAH IT'S NOT FAIR THE PvPERS HAVE 0.0 ALL TO THEMSELVES THEY WON'T SHARE I WANT CROKITE TOO YOU BIG NASTY MEANIE-HEADS
Do you:
(1) Say "Oh, jeez, he's right - we're just selfish, violent jerks. We should share our resources with him. x up for escort gang - take him to the only -1.0 system we have. Here's a copy of the BM for the 2 belts with Arkanor and a few shield hardeners to make sure his Hulk is correctly tanked for the rats we have here."
(2) Say "Dictor bubble up, weapons hot".

Solution is simple and would double CCP's profits... split the game into two realms. One, PvP is almost impossible, the other PvP is sweet and easy. Once a character goes to the new realm they can never go back. In short order there will be two Eves with different rules. Heck, allow characters to move between the realms at a cost.
Now CCP servers can support two MMORPG realms of 35 thousand concurrent users each!
Dividing bears from bullies makes sense other ways too.
It's amost tempting to support this. I would hugely enjoy seeing all the whiney crybabys asking Pharoah Wrangler to Let Their People Go.
A few weeks in the halcyon Neverland of PvP flagging... 0.0 mining POS abound, minerals flow freely, lo-sec mission rats are slaughtered with cheerful abandon... but wait! What is this... no-one wants to buy any ships! Miners find no market for their minerals! Every missioner has an officer fit faction BS!
At first a few tentative queries, like the first fat, heavy raindrops before a storm. Then a slow trickle of whines... then faster than anyone expects or is prepared for, a howling gale, a torrential downpour of tears as thousands of useless miners, bored missioners, unchallenged traders cry and beg desperately to be let back in to the game.
No lesson is learned, no moral is drawn: Once back on the PvP server where ships are needed, ammo is expended and risks must be taken, then the "non-PvPers" continue to whine the same old whines.

So basically you want the rewards of zero-sec (which aren't all that great, unless you're a miner) without the risk. Nope, I cannot endorse this idea.

this is a crazy idea btw and the only way something like this would happen is if they made a separate server for them which would then be ruined by greifers cause that's much more fun the actually playing this game.

Hmm...I dont like the option of giving people a free ride as such everywhere. So flag someone for PvP or PvE is bad. I remember the bit of starwars galaxies with somewhat flagging like that. Very bad.
However there is a congestion problem that relates to sizes. I think about 70-75% of all players stays in highsec and the rest in lowsec/0.0
And its here the problem is, because how big is the actual highsec part. 5%? Its not much bigger if so. And I think there is perhaps another 5% in lowsec and 90% 0.0
I would rather see lowsec dissapearing and turned into highsec. It would solve the current dense crowd in highsec and give those people with that playstyle more freedom to stay on.
Because seriously, what is the benefit of highsec, lowsec and 0.0 Lowsec got no purpose at all, highsec players usually never go there at all. because for highsec players lowsec and 0.0 is the exact same. Actually even with 0.0 being more safe. And for PvPers, what does lowsec accomplish? Nothing, its like 0.0 but with standing penalties and perhaps lightly anoying gateguns.
Hell, you could even make 0.1 to 0.0 and 0.2-0.3 to highsec with concord and the works for what I care.
Right now (and in all the years I played since the start of EvE) its just pointless to have lowsec.

I think that sounds like a good idea. Just expand highsec into the .2-.4 areas and push out the lowsec area to the .1 band. If indeed 70% of the players are in 15% of the space that would relieve some of the "overcrowding".

Yes, goood analogy. The cat pounces on the mouse for fun, and for food (loot). You could try being the mouse with a frying pan for once, maybe you'll enjoy it. Then again, maybe you won't, but the open PvP is what sets Eve apart from other MMOs. I can't understand why anyone would want to play a game where you can't lose. ---------------------------

Then the new areas taken by empire will **** have crappy truesec, which means crappy loot/rats/etc and people like you will still whine about not being able to goto 0.0 with no risk.
If you pay attention to threads about "overcrowding" - empire is'nt crowded, it's the (very few) systems with both more belts/better ore and higher quality agents that are crowded. There's still a good amount of systems within empire where local almost never hits higher than 5.
People won't go to those systems because they have "no real" reason to. Just like how they won't goto the new empire if it gets expanded unless there's high quality agents, better ore, etc there - which should'nt be taken for granted. ---

I don't see there being a big problem with pushing Hi-Sec into the .4 systems. Take it slow, see what happens.
Hell, what about a way for players to "win" a .4 system away from lawlessness through some kind of non-combat activity? If enough "points" are gained in a certain time period, the system gets a temporary incursion of Concord for the next time period, making the system safer for PvE or industrial players.
BTW, how would one go about identifying those hi-sec systems with low population?

BTW the logical corollary of your idea is that systems where much lawbreaking and fighting occurs should decline in security rating.

Going to 0.0 as a carebear trying to get resources, I wouldn't try to bring them back to Empire, I'd try to sell them / put them to use locally.
Ideally, what I want is a system where us carebears can invade 0.0 and empirize it, put up infrastructure and have NPC's appear and police, the sec status of the system increase, and so on and so forth. You PVP'ers be free to attack the infrastructure (and the carebears) to bring the system back down to 0.0 standing.
But I'd like to build all the features of empire space, complete with stations, police, flagging and concordoken, trading, manufacturing, etc., out there. Player-owned stations, contracts with Concord or factional navies paid for by players (so that they get paid for thier policing work), I don't care.
Players can go out to 0.0 and do some stuff, but currently we can't do everything that the NPCs can do. Especially the police drones and sentry guns parts. People stay in Empire because those two things.
Edit: This is what --> I <-- want, and as such I realize most of you don't and in fact hate that kind of game. No need to flame me.
Oddly enough this idea is pretty cool lowsec could be a kind of contested zone. Carebears running missions and deploying station-objects to increase system security status, hiring NPC defenders. Pirates attacking the carebears, NPC defenders and the station bits. You couldn't do this in pure 0.0 as that would seriously destabilize the game. It would be kind of neat for people to directly affect the sec status. "So how did you survive this long in 0.0 with no MWD?" 'I didn't. I died. Alot' |
