The game suffers from what plagues all games eventually. It has grown beyond the practicality of its original inception.
There simply isn't enough hard core combat pvpers in the gaming industry that want an eve type game. As a result the game is somewhat out of balance.
Early on there were not so many builders so they got higher prices because they could only build so fast. Now more builders have joined and thus more competition, the builder population has grown faster than the combat population.
The other major problem is the game time investment. A casual gamer has practically no chance in EVE, they simply cannot earn the isk fast enough to enjoy some parts of the game. Some of these are the hard combat pvpers eve needs to rebalance the system but due to the design they simply can't compete.
EVE's bubble will expand perhaps a bit further then look for it to deflate some as people go to look elsewhere for their challenges.

I dont aggree with this, GTC and easy ways to make hundreds of millions on one kill spring to mind.
Not everyone buys GTCs, I never have actually. That's a problem when you point to that as the only way a casual gamer can compete, by spending more real money than the other players. That's why they either stay small scale play or they move on. They can play other games to get their thrills that cost less than the subscription price plus GTCs to compete in EVE.

I suspect many folks may quit if they remove all of the static belts. Casual players will simply not have time to track down a belt and mine, they'd have time to do one but not both.
It's going to hurt the game more than help it.
