yup, got it running without a hitch. 1 gig of ram however.
installed to run off a 8gig HDSD card. It acutally ran ok before i dumbed down the gfx. dumbed down it runs fine outside station... not flash but enough to do the trick.
only problem is while the interface scales nicely, the in station panel on the right wont scale. so you cant really access your agents... so i go thru the "preople & places" to select me agents.

Thanks.
I was wondering if that's possible as I'm about to get one of those geeky boxes as well. One of the reasons for doing so is to finally getting a bit familiar with Linux.
Now, the question is, was someone able to get the Linux version (any flavor) of EVE running on the Asus Eee PC?

hmmm... well, it should be possible to run the native eve linux client on the asus . we just need to know if there are drivers for 3D rendering for the intel gma 915 .

I have direct rendering enabled and a glxgears around 1k on bat. The native linux client uses winex(cedega) and after playing with pretty much every setting I am unabe to get past the char selection screen.
I am using xubuntu with the current igma drivers. On a different laptop with ati fglrx drivers (notorisouly buggy) Eve works fine (though 'space' is white instead of black/color). Since intel cards have better support and winex is handeling the rendering things should work... I'll reply if I have more success.

Hagen Stein it pulls like 19 to 20 fps under xp 1gb ram. Ubuntu would be ya best choice go check out https://help.ubuntu.com/community/EeePC
eeeXubuntu would be easier as it has all the right drivers. no need to fix that saving you time good luck

I've been trynig to do this for a few days, im running into some problems.
I am trying to install the linux client to a USB Flash Memory stick but am being told i do not have permission to do so... Ive tried a lot but still nothing.
What i want to ask though, are you all running the windows version through WINE or something?
I would appreciate it if someone could give me step by step instructions to getting EVE working nicely on a Eee. (Nice enough for skill changing ;) )
Thanks.

The linux version of eve is the windows version packaged with a free version of cedega.

No, it's not the same. The "Linux" version has been screwed with slightly (possibly to work "better" under Cedega), through after reading many forums you'll find that a large number of people have much better luck running the standard Windows client under regular Wine. That version of Cedega is also screwed with, and if you happen to have a subscribed version of Cedega with other games, it is extremely challenging (if not completely impossible) to get the EVE Cedega to live alongside your real Cedega.

My 701 runs eve happily under windows. I have 2Gb of ram installed and run an eve classic client installed on an external usb2 HDD, (the drive was scavenged from an old laptop).
I only get 10fps or so, so it seems that the folks running under nix are getting better results.
If any one else wants to try eve under xp on one of these things:
The main site for the machine - Linkage - forums eee pc overclocking app, (run the processor at it's full 1ghz) - eee ctrl Astray plus, to get the display running at 800 x 600 or higher - Linkage

I'm having exactly the same problem. I have to admit, I'm an absolute Linux novice (one of the reasons for buying an EeePC: getting familiar with Linux).

Soo... i'll be getting a Eee Pc 900 series. And was wondering if i install eve, do i also have to install another linux client?
I'm a linux noob so still deciding if i should go for the xp variant or try linux. Later is my favorite option since i keep hearing the windows Eee pc wel has windows :) ------- When in doubt, play loud
