I'd petition it - but I have no idea whether I've lost my ship, or merely missing out on a great battle. And the sad thing is... I'm still a number of jumps away!
People might say "that's what happens when you have 400+ people fighting in one system" ... which is absolutely true... but you need to have large fleets to kill supercaps, Titan should be able to die.. if the servers can't handle the ammount of ships required to kill one - then something is wrong: sort it CCP.
By the way, if my ship is dead from stupid gate rats - I'm pettitioning that crap... But I have no idea as I've stared at a black screen of jumping through a gate for 15 minutes.

1. Don't bother petitioning. They won't give you anything. They don't reimburse due to lag, that has been said already.
2. They're working on this supercomputer project that will let the server modify itself to deal with the extra pressure. The server is easily capable of it, but it needs to assign more boxes to that system, which it can only do at downtime. The new supercomputer will be able to change what nodes/boxes are doing what, in real time, and should fix a lot of the lag.

I did eventually load that system... was attacked by rats but survived though it looked like someone else wasn't so lucky cause there was a wreck nearby.

I'm right there with ya'. I'm still >5 jumps out and couldn't jump and can't log in. Missing all the fun here that I've payed for. On another note...CCP needs to reimburse for lag. AND YES WE HAVE PROOF!

They used to, but then people would just say "I was lagging" whenever they lost a ship, so nobody really lost it.

Lag did eventually kill my ship - but atleast it wasn't to gate rats, it was to POS guns at the target battle... so atleast I can say I was there.
