This game is not what its used to be. When i started is was an charming game with nice and helpful dev's and CCP workers. But be aware that is just on the surface. Form where i stand as a non-PVP player, this game is getting more a game for PVP players, if you ar going to be a PVP player, you dont need to read any more.
I dont know how many ppl that er plying the game for PVP or not, but i know that its many players like me that is getting the feeling that the game DEV's are doing more for the PVP parts than they do for the rest of the player non-PVP ppl. Large corps and alliance's is getting some fawors form CCP and the workers there than others. They are destroing the game and diggeing a big hole in the ground for EVE Online. They alwasy modfying the game with pathes that changes the game play getting more and more hard to enjoy. New and old ship is getting changes with pathes so they almost dont fitt anywhere in the game, only as an easy target for PVP players. Green space (safe zone) its more hostile than red space, but in Greenspace you cant use the real war machines, it must be more space dust ther so the ship stop working. The protection forces in green space like Concord and diffrent race forces is gettign smaler and weeker. Ti seems the ist becoming the bad guys(PVP-players) game.
Theres no room for non PVP playes in the game any more, nowhere to be safe, nothing to do safly. Well they say they have do alot for Traders, Miners, Builders and Missions runners. they have done that to but it comes with a price. You cant do any of this things without getting run over by PVP players easyer. Thay say that that the they have added more stuff to the game, so ppl have more to do, like exploration, complexes, Missions and invention, code breaking and so on. But i have not seen that they have dont something just for the non PVP players. Like i see it they just feeding the PVP players with more things to shot at and play with.
It have been nice if other non-PVP player coming forward and say what they think of the game.

Edited by: Falka Lakadaka on 03/02/2008 23:12:32 I have PvP characters and non-PvP characters.
I enjoy both aspects of the game equally.
I don't find high-sec to be daunting at all - my characters keep to themselves, only haul what isn't going to be ganked and enjoy the relative freedom of high-sec.
My PvP character gets out and about in low-sec and 0.0 for a lot of fun.
I say get out and embrace what's happening out there, hiding from it will only make it worse (in your own mind if nothing else).
Edit: Oh! and can I have your stuff?
Cheers Falka

This has always been a PvP game, hasn't it?
I do recall Oveur saying many times that the whole game was PvP based one way or another. What changed?
I've been away for 18 months or so and I came back to find that we had 'jump to zero' in game (we used to make instas) and jump clones everywhere so you can PvP without losing plants and ships that can jump without using the gates inbetween and POSs that let you jump without going the long way. Lots of changes, and most of them lowering the difficulty of the game for newer players.
I really think this game is more friendly than it used to be...

Thank god it's aimed often at PvP. That's the niche it fills imo and it's certainly why I switched here. Hopefully they stay committed to that and don't give in to the PvE crowd anymore then they often have. I've said it before and still maintain that no MMO out there is as friendly to a rookie that likes to PvP. A game can't be all things to all people and if it no longer meets what you expect you'll be happier finding what does rather then wishing for it to be some game from your "golden" time here. To the rookies reading: if you've never given PvP a shot get out there and do it. That's where EVE really shines (not that improvements can't still be made for sure) and hopefully will continue to.
And in all fairness to CCP it doesn't really "sell" this game as a spectacular PvE game. It sells it based on 0.0 warfare and the other forms of PvP and those snazzy ships. CCP doesn't run ads saying "Love to fire lasers at roids in a virtual environment?? We got what you want!!"

Yes, but that's the entire point. You are correct, this game does have more to offer those who like PvP. The devs do work hard to offer PvP content, and to balance everything towards PvP. But that's their intention. That's what EVE is.
Yes, it probably is unfair towards those who don't like PvP. But then again, why are you playing a game that has always been, and probably always will be, aimed at PvP play?

Hey Hey Hey, get some year on your back before think you know what you are talking about.
I didnt say that the game has become harder to get into for new ppl, Ready again. Its getting harder to understand the game when changes doing it easyer to some player thatn others, and take a lock on the rest of the forum to see players loosing the grip of the game.
Dont just type your own way of playing, see the hole game in one, look a little longer than your guns guys, look what they did to the carriers, and other ships and moduls in the game.

Why is this kind of unsubstantiated, completely subjective whine in the rookie forum anyway? Should be moved to General Discussion where the other unconstructive posts are imo.

If you don't want PVP don't play a game with other humans. Sorry, but PVP makes the game interesting, even for non PVP-ers. Keeps you on your toes, gives us ore and pads our killboards. We're all happy

Okay, now I see the value of this post in the rookie forum.
Rookies - the OP is a prime example of fail. This is what it looks like in EVE.

Edited by: Hippy Dave on 04/02/2008 04:24:26 Gotta say as someone who played eve early on (3+ years ago) before any major updates the game is much easier and more interesting for people interested in non pvp activities.
When i played before missions basically didnt exist (they did but they were uber crap) if you werent into pvp ratting and mining was about the only things you could do.
Now im not into pvp atm, my character is to crap to be bothered with it, eventually i intend to get involved but until then its a case of keeping yourself safe, not expecting the game to babysit your every move. High sec space is only an indication of relative threat, the real stat to look at imo is player traffic. If you are flying a crappy freighter with a few mill of isk in goods in your belly through a 1.0 system check how many players are in space, how many ships/pods have been destroyed, always warp to 0 and never use autopilot and you should be fine for the most part (although i wouldnt recomend doing the above ever personally)
I fly in mainly 0.8 to 0.4 systems atm and have never been ganked or pirated in any way, the rare occasions i do have valuable cargo i make sure i can carry it in my cruiser with shield tanking and that the players in space numbers are low. Now eventually by law of averages i will get popped open by someone but hey thats life, its what makes eve more exciting to play knowing there is real risk out there.
Im no guru by any means, in fact im pretty much a noob, but just excercising common sense has kept me safe this long. Oh and joining an organised and helpful corp will help you as well, and if you are a hauler learn to fly the big industrials which are much harder to suicide gank (from what ive been told)
Seriously if you think its harsh now you should have played when mOo used to gate camp 1.0 space and take on concord :)
I think eve now is almost perfectly balanced, there is enough pve pursuits to keep most happy but the focus is still player run corps and content, eve is a sandbox game after all (imo)

Im new to the game. Never been a huge fan of pvp. Actually came back to give it a shot cause regardless if you like pvp or not this is the best sandbox you can get. So try to enjoy pvp or loose out on the only good sandbox game. There just isn't anywhere else to go. So anyone who might be turned away by this take a second look.
