okey. hi, my first post on the forums. playing for about 1.5-2 months now. and want to start my dream. small though. I understand I cant just jump up to the big stuff right away.
I want to start my transport service cheap and with small stuff. my industrial ship can hold 11.619m3 and I want to keep my trips in high sec (0.5 and higher). I will pick up the the package anywere in high sec. and bring it to anywere in high sec.
I will pay collentral. right now I can pay a 10 mil collentral but if more is needed I will probably be able to get some from a m8. if it is to much. then I wont accept the mission.
the service will be done through the contract system implemented in EVE.
I will charge 35K per jump and a flat 50K to get to the pickup point.
small orders will probably be done in smaller and faster ships.
my alt will be doing the transporting. so put the contracts up with him. it is Rolbur Craftman that will be accepting the contracts.
if you have any tips for me, please give them, I am new to this and hope it will work out.

rather cheap service you're providing there considering how much time hauling will consume especially if the pickup point is like 50 jumps away!

Greetings Rolbar,
Hauling takes trust along with the collateral to cover any losses while shipping. Which you are doing the right way right now. Starting off small and fully releasing to people that you are starting off as small time.
Work on getting some more set aside for collateral so that you can start taking some higher end jobs. Also scan the public contracts for jobs if your not busy with others.
You might also want to institute a per stop fee, and/or a jita stop fee. For example your charge 50k for the first pickup point (more to cover your travel time) but say I want you to first stop to Jita and than head to Rens before finally ending in Hek. that would be two separate stops that you would have to make that will add additional jumps to the contract. So say you have a 35k per additional stop fee plus a 1mil Jita stop fee (since we all know suiciders LOVE Jita not to mention the Lag you have to deal with) This would turn that few hundred thousand isk contract into one that would net you almost 2 mil and people would still pay it.
I would also suggest that if you intend to keep hauling to train towards Transport ships and Freighters. This will greatly increase your productivity along with be semi-safer ships to fly.
If you would like to discuss anything else feel free to contact me.

Edited by: Rolbur on 07/02/2008 02:48:29 hi, thanks alot for the replies. I'm doing it with an alt for obvious reasons. he there for support skills and want him to make some money aswell while I do other things with my main. so getting to the pickup point can take long. maybe I should make a list of how many jumps will cost how much to get to. and then a per jump cost for the transport.
I was thinking around 35K at first per jump as it sounds resonable to start out with. seeing as my ship isnt the safest, and I'm willing to pay collentral. I'm also training on to transport ships. and my goal is getting that sweet freighter.
I will contact you ingame as soon as I can. I want to know some more as you seem to know it ;).
EDIT: maybe it's best to make a deal with the one thats making use of my service for the pickup cost. my ship can be anywere in empire at anytime, so the fee may sometimes be cheaper or more expensive. and the costumer may think he is being swindled.

Be careful using your alt on another account afk on long trips. Gankers will pop you in a heartbeat if your on auto, especially coming in/out of the Jita area.
Good luck.

I have to close the service for now. will be back to eve in a couple of months. I can't affort playing it anymore. I got to little time and it costs to much in total. when my RL gets back on it's legs I will be back again probably.
p.s. I cant edit the threat name etc with closed or anything as that account has it's payment ended already and thought this would be the best time to take a break.
