1) Why does this skill require that you do all remote research from a corporate hangar?
2) Why does this skill not function correctly for POS Labs? Regardless of skill level, you need to do the job from the same system as the POS lab.

Not sure what your getting at on this one as they are similar questions.

The BPO/BPC must be in the same system as the POS and in the corp hanger, you can be somewhere else. The reason for it being in the corp hanger is because the POS is a Corporate/Alliance entity. You launch the POS for either Corp or Alliance not for self.

But corps can allow POS facilities to be used by ordinary members or friends of the corp, one or neither of which might have access to a corporate hangar.

No they cant.
You can allow alliance use but the POS would have had to be launched for alliance and the member corp has to have an office in system.

What do the standings and corp member options on the laboratory production lines mean then?

Edited by: Helen Hunts on 04/02/2008 21:05:00 Question should be in Stations, Starbases and Outposts section.
1. POS is a corp structure, not individual player. There's any number of RP and coding reasons to keep it all on the corp level, but simple answer: That just how it works. Deal with it.
2. The blueprint and POS muct be in the same system with the blueprint in a station corp hanger, or in the POS structure that the research will be done in. (cannot put BP in lab1 and do research in lab2) YOU can be as far away from the blueprint as your skills allow, just search through Corp assets to find the BP you need to research.
For manufacturing, Supply Chain Managment works in the exact same way.
EDIT: All 'extra materials', minerals and such must be in the POS structure that the job is being done at. _______________________________

You can use them to reward or punish corp/alliance members if they don't have the proper standings they cant use the POS.
I'm not even sure if they work.
Possibly, Hopefully down the road CCP will allow us to rent the POS out to the public.

Cheers.
Looks like I'm going to be relocating a POS then :)
