Hello Eve,
I was wondering what your take was on ECM and ECM burst. How effective are they and how do you use them properly?
I'm not sure how to figure out the strengths of people's sensors, how they are affected by ECM (ie. if your ECM strength is stronger, they are jammed, or is it a chance based device), and what types of scanners people use (ie. ladar, gravometric etc).
Any details on this would be great, or even a link to a thread that outlines it. I've done some searches but can't come up with anything.
Thanks!

It's chance based. You can find the sensor strength and type in the ship info and in the ECM module's info.

Edited by: Major PewPew on 04/02/2008 19:39:47 ECM is figured out as follows.
(Jamming Strength/Target ships sensor strength)*100
example:
you put one ECM Multispec onto an opponent. Lets say that ECM Multispec strength is 8. Lets say your target ship has a sensor strength of 21.
Calculation is this: (8/21)*100 = 38% chance of jamming target ship.
If im wrong someone feel free to correct me.

From what I understand as an ECM Pilot (Rooks, Falcons, Scorpions), the chance of a successful jam is the ratio of jamming points you are emitting to the sensor points the target is emitting.
5 point Jammer. 10 point signal.
5:10 1:2 50% chance of jamming.
When you apply more jammers, the better the chances.
