Hi,
You are welcome to discuss this on our forums at www.eve-online.com, the Developers will be able to read it there. The players and Developers can also post a comment if they would like to and discuss this with you. The best section to post it under would be Features and Ideas Discussion, you can also post if elsewhere if you would like.
Please only post it once though, multiple posts will result in them being removed.

Before you're flamed to hell and back: salvaging is perfectly legal. And even though there are a dozen posts on these forums a week with people complaining about it, it is very unlikely that this will change in a very near future.
That being said, the easiest way to avoid people salvaging your missions is to leave "the" mission hub of all of eve (i.e. motsu). The reason there are salvagers there is because so many people run missions there. There are plenty agents in non-hub regions that give nearly identical LP rewards. There are plenty of factions you can work for beside Caldari Navy.
As for your reasons: 1. Whether or not it is fair to have no aggression on salvage act is debatable. However, for your average mission runner that is probably a "good thing", because the possibilities of ganking mission fitted ravens are nearly limitless otherwise. Honestly, I think people asking for aggression counter do not really understand what they are getting into. So you pop his salvaging desroyer, he comes in a HAC 5 mins later, and voila faction loot for him and a flashy mail with a brand new ibis for you.
2. Not an excuse. Pvp happens and if you're not prepared for it then you're at a disadvantage. Plenty of times I have been caught with my proverbial pants down by wartargets and such. You deal with it and move on.

Aside from other threads on this exact same topic... what would you do if someone was attackable? By your own admission, you're not fitted for pvp. If you loose to people visiting and salvaging in low sec, do you think high sec would be any different if you were able to attack them (and then, they're able to attack you?)
The simplest and best answer is: salvage as you mission. Either toss an offline salvager in that high slot to clean up after the room is clear (and then have extra cpu and grid for a better tank or dps) or add a ship for dedicated salvage to your fleet (destroyers and support cruisers work very well in this role).
Just picture the fun of your own drones deciding to attack a salvager without you intending to do so.
And remember, you own the cargo - not the salvage.

The salvage doesn't belong to you, it belongs to whoever salvages the wreck. You haven't done anything to earn it, why should it be yours?
Your reward for blowing up the ship is the bounty and the loot inside. The wreck is a separate entity which, when salvaged, yields an additional separate reward.
Salvage yourself as you go along, bring a corpmate/alt to salvage as you go, or move to a less populated missioning area.
Salvaging as a profession has a long and rich history, both in real life and in science fiction.

Though I don't really care about this issue one way or the other, I always wonder why ppl give this patently false assertion as a defense of the status quo.
Before missioner kills rat: nothing to be salvaged. After missioner kills rat: something to be salvaged.
Therefore, the missioner created the thing to be salvaged.
Duh.
Whether or not making the salvageable item justifies game-ownership of the salvageable item is another question (and one, like I said, I don't particularly care about either way). But the fact that the salvageable item is created by the missioner is so obviously true that only very "special" people would deny it.

Since you're wondering, just read the rest of his post which explains it nicely.
Quote: Before missioner kills rat: nothing to be salvaged. After missioner kills rat: something to be salvaged.
Likewise, before salvager turns on a salvaging unit: nothing to be salvaged. After he does...hey look.
Quote: Therefore, the missioner created the thing to be salvaged.
Duh.

I think the overall issue is one on which reasonable people can disagree. Though lots of unreasonable people disagree about it too, resorting to things like childish insults.
But maybe I'm just ""special"".

It was a big problem when salvaging was first implemented.
You see, when they first implemented it you also automatically got everything in the can as well, flagging you to the missioner.
CCP *SPECIFICALLY* changed it so that you DONT get flagged when salvaging.
See? they've already fixed it. Either salvage during mission or blow up wrecks if you dont want someone else doing it.
