Simple idea to veteran traders.
How many time you got confused with so many order in that region, going back and forth to understand what are your orders or someone else?
My idea to finish with this confusion would be very simple yet effective.
CCP could just make our own orders RED much like the GREEN ones. This has no balance effect in game as we traders really look to our order list before doing anything (or at least should do).
Aditionally make the orders from corp or pilots from same corp BLUE. This perhaps could have some effect on the game balance? Sig removed, please keep it below 24000 bytes, email [email protected] if you have any questions - Xorus

This is an interesting idea.. that has a positive and negative side to it.
On the positive side, when I have 50+ items on market.. (worse when I have a couple of my trader toons with lots of orders up) It becomes tiresome to inspect market on each item and modify price... a green/red system would be helpful to pinpoint where your order is at.
On the negative side, you have to realize if everyone had this tool at their disposal, price competition would get very frenetic... everyone would modify like crazy on the daily (even hourly.. or less). It would become very hard to keep in the green so to speak. Everyone is always willing to sell lower then you down to the penny. Example you price is 100,000,000.00 then someone drops theirs to 99,999,999.99 then you go 99,999,999.98, etc etc. It would become a headache playing the "who can lower the penny quicker" game. Even though this happens now.. it only happens between attentive harder working traders. Most people set up orders and walk away from them for a few weeks.
I guess what makes a good trader is not only identifying good buy low markets and good sell high markets... but even more so.. a trader who is proactive enough to stay ontop of their market orders and modify them frequently to keep the buy/sell orders moving at a steady pace so you don't have order slots stagnating in a regional market.
If this green/red concept were to come into effect it favors the lazy trader and condemns the hard working trader. For that reason, even though it would make my life easier... it makes every other traders life easier too (my potential competition), I don't think I like this concept.

Well, I dont think the lazy or casual trader will be too much worried to check and low their prices every single day or even more than once a day to keep competition.

As awesome i think the idea is, i have to agree with WardogX.
What would be the next step? Automatic lowering of prices to undercut by 0.01? Also, there are other ways to stay on top at all times. We have the tools but i won't spill it because that will just make it worse for myself when i indeed step into the market. ---------------

Edited by: Vested Interest on 10/02/2008 23:44:39 I don't think we should conflate a nice visibility and gui enhancement like this request with other things like "automatic 0.01'ng" just because "it'll make the market easier to use"
It's a fine idea, along with being able to right-click and modify your order right out of the market list.
See this other thread for a bunch of things along the same lines. These are not market-changing things, just little tweaks to the interface to make it work nicer and be less tedious:

People already modify their orders like crazy. You'd be crazy not to.
There's different levels to traders.
I like the idea of making it so I can see my own orders. The corp mates one... Well, that one I'm on a fence about about. I'm not saying I don't like the idea... but I wouldn't say I like it either.
Still, good suggestions.
