So I just went out to get a second Nvidia 7950 GT card... an exact duplicate. Hoping this SLI config would be super sweet. Little did I know, when SLI is enabled, I get only ONE of my two monitors to work. Is this true for everyone else? I do run two accounts and was hoping to get a boost, which two cards do, but not with SLI.
I currently have 1 monitor connected to each of the cards, and can run two accounts on 2 screens with far better fps than before... WITHOUT SLI ENABLED though.
Shouldn't I be able to have SLI enabled and also have two monitors running two accounts? Am I missing the point to SLI?
One other question... is there a way to change the name of the cards on the Eve drop down menu... right now both same the same thing and it's quite confusing. Also, there is quite the bug to Eve when you do select a different card for one account. It pretty much makes alot of the words and characters disappear.

When you SLI I believe that one card acts as the interface with the monitors, and the other card simply acts to increase graphics processing. Try to connect both monitors to the same card and go from there.

Unless one of the cards HAS to have both monitors connected... if so, I may have had them on the wrong one. Hmmmmmm.

Here's SLi works.
SLi NOT enabled: each of the 2 video cards is treated as a seperate card, which allows you to hook up one, possibly two, monitor(s) per card. (Dunno about hooking up 4 monitors to test that as I only have 2)
SLi IS enabled: both video cards are treated as one single unit. This only allows you to hook up monitors to one card. (Currently I have 2 monitors hooked up to my SLi comp and they work fine.)
If EVE requires a seperate card per account, then you have to run it with SLi NOT enabled. |

The thing I head about SLI is that it will only work with a single monitor, period.
The only way to get around it so I read via various internet research was via a Matrox Dual or TripleHead2go.
I stress that I don't actually have an SLI setup, but this is what I perceived to be the situation with SLI. I do have a TripleHead2go solution though (eve on 3840x1024 is very sweet) and aspire to the SLI setup eventually, hence my previous interest and research.

I read limitations in the SLi drivers make dual monitors impossible, this was a while back though and it may be outdated and things have changed.

Quoth the god of knowledge:

Guess that's a good reason not to get SLI setup

I run an SLI config on 2 boxes.
I have not really noticed much of a change in performance on either box due to SLI with EVE. Switching out an older AMD for a decent quad core made a big difference however.
Ive had the opportunity to mess around with parts and configs and from what ive seen, SLI is no big boost in eve. Other games is a whole different story though (online RTC/FPS). Maybe for big battle scenes but my closest experience to 0.0 battles is jita and i load just as quick with one card as i do with two.
Processor was the biggest diffence ive seen, might be a fluke but thats my take.

I tried everything... and the only impact I have is simply to just not run SLI. The dual cards do help a lot when you attach one monitor per card and run 2 accounts. But other than that, even running one client on one monitor with SLI enabled, it made no big difference.

SLI only really kicks in when you try to play games like crisis in high resolutions. other than that the gains are minimal, where you can barely see it on the naked eye.
so yes, atm the better option is to actually get a triplehead2go to take the most out of your SLI config ---
