I just saw a Blood Raider log where somebody said that he have to go to his outpost in 0.0 to refit new modules to his old ship because current equipped modules are after their expiration date....
Idea:
Make expiration date of modules:
after the date different things happen:
* sometimes it doesn't work (percent chance)
* its effectiveness is lowered (percent according to how long after expiry date and skill of user)
It would be fun and add new boost to economy

sounds reasonable
so said, i think that slaves,food and similar should not survive forever in a hangar/cargo
maybe add a decayed,ill,old attribute to some stuff ?
beside that, i'd say expiring modules from a ship should be very well thought through.
maybe count it a structure damage that can be repaired the usual way ^^ |

Incredibly thoughtless. How would you feel paying 600 million for some shield booster and for it to be just as effective as a regular unnamed one in a month?

But imagine the fun you could have with it on a RP level, (and the coding headache the devs would have)
keeping slaves in a warehouse? do you have oxygen and food and spirits to keep them going? don't store the slaver hounds in there. Don't put the exotic dancers in with the marines or mercenaries, you will end up with a bunch of extra homeless.
Keep the tourists in a warehouse too long and they start demanding a refund and watch your wallet go down in jumps.
