Ive started to get this problem only a few days ago. In space, about every 15-20 seconds my framerate drops dramatically from about 30-40 avg to around 4-5 avg. It does this every 15-20 seconds for a duration of around 10 seconds, which most of you know can have a great impact on gameplay
I tried several ways to try and fix it: reboot computer, reinstall the client, update my graphics card driver, and clean my cache. But none of them worked, they did stop the problem from happening in station though.
Is anyone else experiencing or has experienced this problem before? If so any help would be much appreciated

Your issue began after a specific patch? Or nothing changed and you got fps drops?
If the eve version didn't change, there may be other answers than something wrong in eve. Look for spywares, virus, adwares and their friends, they cause slowdowns.
Did you change anything? hardware? antivirus? Do you have anything getting close to overheating in your computer? the drivers may reduce the graphic card speed for some time to allow it to cool a bit. But if all was fine before and nothing changed, there is one thing that comes with time : dust, this could explain something overheating and the system throttling it to cool it. -- Pocket drone carriers (tm) enthousiast !

Hve you recently joined any new in-game channels?
I've seen a few posts explaining similar symptoms as yours and the cause was a channel with many users (help, market etc etc) .

Edited by: Monkey Saturday on 11/02/2008 02:28:12 Have the same problem. Right before dt it was fine (40-50 fps), no problems, no drop in fps. AFTER dt, oh, average 4.5fps. "Must be my computer..." I thought to myself. Cycled modem, router, cleaned it, checked and rechecked all fans, cooling systems, nada. System specs aren't important since there is nothing changed. Not running new graphics or anything special either. Just your bog-standard classic eve install.
I haven't had lag this bad since last August, what happened during dt guys? Do tell!
Edit- Website is now ridiculously slow for me too. Every other site on the net is good, so i'll just chalk this one up to server issues and go to bed

I know it's probably not the case, but I've seen this before with hard to read CD's in the drive. Windows likes to poll the drive from time to time and if the CD is hard for it to read, FPS will drop.
