So I was thinking about skillin up from frigates, I dont want a cruiser so how would one fit a jaguar for lvl3 and lowsec ratting purposes, or would a wolf do better?

look, a good passive shield tank on a jaguar can tank ever 0.0 bs out there. However you could not rat in 0.0 at all due to the awesome bs tank of the rats. But I think you should go with BC to rat in 0.0 instead.

Wolf is better. The dps of the jaguar isn't enough.

It's doable if you can carry enough ammo.
lvl 3 Blockade in a Jaguar will take you most of a day.

Never done any 0.0 ratting in my Jaguar but I've done L3s in it before. Pretty much the same comment as above. It tanks just fine but set aside a lot of time because the DPS is only meh.

And wolf has more dps but a sucky tank to be as equally useless too? ;(
I realy wouldnt want to learn BS/BC because I want to fly smaller ships like ceptors/dictors/AF etc for pvp, but you have to get the money from somewhere anyways.
I supose crosstraining to amarr AF would be an option, dont realy have much else than learning, mechanics and navigation skills done yet but I do have amarr and minmatar frig skill at lvl4, my endgame goal would be to get stiletto and sabre though.
I supose all of the ceptors are dps gimped on ratting too?

For missions the Jag isn't that good imho, but for ratting it work fine. You don't even have to squeeze the last bit of tank out of the Jag to rat, so you can easily fit a Gyro or two..

If you wanna make some isk you not gonna be doing it in small ships. Train up for a Cane and do level 3's.  You will make decent isk and still be able to train for your other ships.

3x shield power relay 2s
rigs
2x shield purger 1s
this setup gets a nice ammount of shields (i believe around 2.5k hp) and with only lvl 4 in aplicable shield skills i have 101s recharge on it, at lvl 5 it will have a regen of about 98.
with this i can tank a decent ammount of lvl 4s and almost all lvl 3s....but as stated above, it is dps deficiant, so another corpie or such would be needed to add dps, unless u wanna take forever at it.
this is actually the boat i used to gain the cash for a Hurricane, and still enjoy it more, in some respects, than flying the 'cane.
