Edited by: Ally Poo on 09/02/2008 15:51:21 Ok guys i have a question....
Which command ship (the ones with bonus to gang mods) is good? or best? i can fly, minmatar, caldari and amarr CS's. but im thinking the damnation, on EFT, i can run duel rep forever, a disrupter, gang mod, and use my missile skills to shoot. sound good? or can i find better from the vulture or claymore?

its realy like comparing 3 totally diffrent things. If u fly in small fast moving gangs the claymore is awesome. Armortanking fleets/gangs damnation and same for shield and vulture. However if u are thinking of using gangmods on diffrent ships and u can use them all with implants (implants gives huge bonus so if u can use only one use that) damnation has the best passive tank but deals no damage, claymore has an awesome active tank but yet again deals little damage, vulture is much of the same as the others.

well damage is not my question, its more or less being able to tank well, and dish out gang mods. i dont care for damage with this idea i have in mind. thats for gang m8's.
and another question, do gang mods stack? like if i put on two passsive defence mods?

quick rundown of the fleet command ship bonuses: (ship bonuses adds 12% bonus at cmd ship lvl IV to particular gang mods)
vulture: shield tanking boosts (generic shield tanking fleets, makes your tanks very tough) claymore: speed boosts (this is very popular with nano fleets) eos: electronic warfare boosts (ecm fleets, obviously, also strengthens your ecm resist) damnation: armor tanking boosts (generic armor tanking fleets, makes your tanks very tough)
so really, what do you want to do?
take your pick, they all tank quite well on their own merit.
you can't activate 2 gang mods that are exactly the same.
you can have 3 related ones activated, like 3 different armor oriented gang mods.
and you can also add a 4th with a command processor installed (but it takes a significant amount of skilling to utilize one).

For small gangs the Claymore is just great. 3 Skirmish Links adding AB/MWD speed, Web/Scram range and reducing Signature to the gangs is just great, any tackler will love to have you arround. (a good Huginn pilot gets ~50km range on his webs with the skirmish bonus)

yeah maxed out claymore pilots are definately highly sought after these days.

Cool, i like chocolate. And thats not relevant either.
To the OP, use all of them! The vulture can be setup to tank better than any non-cap ship in the game, either passive or active.
The damnation has a great passive armour buffer and has debatebly the more useful tanking bonuses, just because more people armour tank.
But, the claymore is quicker and everyone will love the speed bonuses, you become a nano gangs wet dream.
So basically, all will be useful but it really depends on who you fly with.

OP you're in luck. You can use all the USEFUL command ships. Though I don't have experience using the other 3 racial command ships, I do have experience using the race that you cannot fly atm.
As one person said, use them all if you can, though I would use the one that has a tank that you are skilled the most in (armor or shield) since the tank on a command ship is its most important aspect to yourself.
For gangs, I would say the claymore is a supreme asset to small roaming gangs while the damnation is king in a large fleet gang. The vulture isn't as useful but it has an amazing tank and is the only command ship that has the range to snipe with the rest of the fleet instead of hanging back due to range issues.
As for gallente, the eos is completely useless at the moment. Information warfare links are just too specialize to be of use to any normal gang, and are of no benefit to yourself unlike every other warfare link. The ship itself isn't too stellar either. It has the worst type of tank for fleet combat (active), can tank the least, has the shortest range, and the worst primary weapon systems for a fleet battle (blasters and drones).
It is cheap though so if your strapped for cash then the eos is for you.
If I had an Alt I would probably post with it... |
