Are drones viable in PvP? I was thinking of creating a gall PvP but from previos PvP experiance I don't know if drones are useful. Alot has changed in the game since I've been around though so I thought I'd ask.
What types if any.. of PvP are drones useful?

yea they are useful.... just as long as your not sitting on a gate/station in lowsec with global crim

Nobody has mentioned EW drones, specifically ecm drones. If you are in a dedicated drone damage boat, they wont be your cup of tes, but if say your in a megathron, then these are incredibly usefull
If you are looking at lowsec gate work, sentry drones can be very good, and are the only drones that will take a drone damge rig. Garde II's with 2 x Sentry drone augmenters kick out a lot of damage, and sit next to your ship redy to scoop when the sentries try to squish them.
OFC this is all assuming you have a gang with you to take care of the various tackling.
Drones as a whole can be aweseome, but unlike any other primary weapon system, the can be targeted and destroyed, so you gotta keep an eye on them.

In this case they can be used to draw sentry fire (better to use t1 drones due to cost) in tight situations to help you survive longer.

Drones are good.
You'll find many gallente use highslots for other things, while sending out the Tech2 heavy drones to do all their damage.
THey can use Nos/Neuts in highslots, EW in mids and Tank in lows with some rig slots for either capacitor stuff or extra tanking.

drones are usefull but they can be shoot at, if you fight a rupture by example and you 're in a thorax or a vexor, ruppie pilot will keep at 15 kms range, then will kill your drones first then go for your ship, so while they re a good add for any pvp, relying on them is a bit risky.
The ones who are really annoying are the ecm drones, even the small ones, being permajammed is no fun at all

/me hugs her ecm vespa drones and polishes her vexor with t2 ecm in 2 lowslots.:) you cant hit much when 5 vespas and my vex are on you from 30 km.

They'll get my extra set of high slots that also double as midslots when I choose that use no PG and no CPU when they pry my cold dead hand off of them....

Drones are very useful for me. When I camp a gate or station, cheap T1 hob goblins drones draw sentry fire away from me. Very nice and gives me time to destroy whatever I / we were chasing.

What about going all out with drone training though it that worth it for a strictly PVP character?
