Well, if this is true then we will lose the algae of the seas soon. It just so happens that the rainforrest does bugger all for our oxygen supply in comparison to sea algae, so it may be damage done lets see how long/if we can survive.

They'll probably think it's a natural occurrence until they uncover and determine the function of an internal combustion engine. As soon as they realize that the billions of buried devices produced CO^2 as a byproduct, they'll understand. ---------------- Tarminic - 31 Million SP in Forum Warfare Play EVE: Downtime Madness v0.78.2 |

Edited by: Buxaroo on 11/02/2008 16:01:50 Negative. The conservative base would never let reason or scientific truth get in the way of them making billions of dollars so that they can send their spoiled brat dughters Porches for their sweet 16 birthday parties. **** the environment and the living organisms that live there! I want my fleet of gas-guzzling SUV's! Nothing is more important than that!
ps, nice find DS. Please resize image to a maximum of 400 x 120, not exceeding 24000 bytes. If you would like further details please mail [email protected] ~Saint |

Relax, this will all fix itself. Once there are less than a billion humans again, everything will be OK once more.

The article about the Pacific being a big sea of floating garbage is grossly exaggerated. I work at sea and cross the pacific regularly - in fact we ride the same Pacific Gyres the article, oddly enough, say sailors avoid. Maybe the article is reffering mainly to yachters (or as we call them, noobs). When you're travelling for commercial reasons, why burn fuel when the sea can carry you for free? Anyhow, I've never seen anything out there except for an occasional seagull or two. All you people can sleep well in that comfort.
What I do feel compelled to add is that I see firsthand what is happening to the ocean's currents. They are changing, any merchant mariner can tell you that. And this is a new phenomena unheard of since the dawn of charting.

Since the richest are the most dependent on technology, they are the least capable of dealing with the coming collapse.
The next civilizations will be born from those still living stone age lifestyles in the furthest reaches. Jungles of Borneo, the Amazon and so on. And when those civilizations reach the technical level that the west experienced in the 1800's they will stall out as there will not be any easily accessible resources as there was for our ancestors.

I'm not so sure. Yes, those civilizations that are very independent of modern technology will fare better than emerging economies, but if a civilization survives mostly on local fishing they will be poorly-equipped to cope with the coming changes.
The richest billion - which includes all of the US if I'm not mistaken - will be able to use their wealth to sa***uard themselves against the coming changes. Food will become very expensive, but not impossible to find. Those that can afford food will live, those that cannot will have to find a way of sustaining themselves or die. ---------------- Tarminic - 32 Million SP in Forum Warfare Play EVE: Downtime Madness v0.78.3 (NEW VERSION!) |
