Anyone have this happen, and unknown site turned expedition, jumped us total of 23 jumps away from home, offered a bounty of 1bil isk for the final kill, but then at the completion of the second escalation it stopped. This is a first for me, does this happen sometimes. the loot wasn't that great either.

If I remember correctly the 1 Bill is nothing but a pirate trick, don't feel too left out you would have never recieved it one way or another.

Yeah, the 1 bil is just a load of hype. You end up with crappy A-Type items instead which are generally worth about 1 bil ISK only.

Well I wouldn't have minded loot that sold for 1bil, but we got some dread gurista ammo.....not quite the same. LOL
Anyone wanna buy some dread gurista ammo for 1 bil ?

Either you didnt find the next exploration trigger which would give you a dead message or the next stage or the dead end message trigger is bugged for this stage.

Expeditions die out all the time after only the second stage. At each branch point in the expedition the random generator says .. go forward or no .. there is no magic thing to kill to garauntee the next phase.

Lol, be glad you at least got a deadend message, there are quite a few that don't give the deadend message.
Basicly every stage has a chance to either deadend or continue, so getting to the last stage of an expedition requires luck.
Offcourse it's a bummer but it's also what makes expeditions and escalations exiting; it'd be a real bummer if every one of them escalated to the end.
I've done around 50 of them so far (maybe more but at least that) and had only one expedition escalate all the way to it's last stage (a Pirate's Path).
Escalation chances are 1 in 3 in my personal experience.
