I fly gallente. I have to get in close for every single encounter to do my damage, Sure i can crank over 1k DPS but my optimal will be 6,320 meters roughly (gank mega neutron 2's federation navy am) Now heres my question, why is every caldari ****** whining about torpedoes having a range nerf? Seems perfectly fine to me you now have the caldari equivalent of a gank mega, whats the problem? Because you cant break 1k DPS from 75 km away you gotta fit an mwd and work for it now? Someone show me a valid reason for this please. Man everyone wants to have high DPS but noone wants to have to work for it or get close range and put there ship in danger. "Everyone wanna be a ***** but noone wanna be a *****." -Paul Mooney, i guess that sums it up.

Really? You have nothing better to do than write a useless whine on a topic beaten to death several times a day?
Me? Well i just got done pleasuring myself and really can't move all that much for the next few minutes (i take pleasuring very seriously). So that's my excuse for having nothing better to do. What's yours?

I guess it's because for 4 years, we did have the ability to fire torps at 90 odd KM, then it was taken away from us. We felt that because it took 10 seconds for them to reach their target (i.e. mostly useless in a fleet engagement) that it made up for it.
some of us have adapted - used MWDs, switched to cruise missiles etc, understanding that all the other races' high DPS ammo is close range, so's ours (with still having the advantage of choosing any damage type at the expense of time taken for torpedoes to hit their target).
some of us haven't, and complain about it.
And some of us are now cross training Gallente -- Sir, I don't understand why we train for ECM, sir - in a fleet battle all you got to do is press buttons.

Edited by: KM0r on 11/02/2008 21:00:10 Listen Gheylord (Yeah, that's right. I did the unimaginable and totally skipped by Buddy, Chief, Pal, Dude, Kid and all the other lesser diminutive names opting, rather, for the grand daddy of them all).
bah... i was gonna add some sort of constructive answer... but yeah.. you're right. not worth my time.
Well... i just got done grooming the pubes, and there's obviously something better to do now. So I'll be talking to ya later.

But we had much longer range and the ability to vary damage types at a whim. Torpedoes were less DPS than blasters or autocannons, to be sure, but they were more than rails - at 90km we could hit for ... 750(ish) a torp - refire of about 9 seconds, about, what, 450-500 DPS? No where near blasters but certainly surpassing railguns.
In fleet ops of course this was next to useless because by the time they got there, the combined might of 20 or 30 ships firing long range will have killed the target, but in missions or complexes this was invaluable.
Personally I think torpedoes were overpowered and I think a lot of other Raven pilots think so too. I also think that we grew reliant on them and people didn't want to adjust their tactics.
Right now we still have longer range high damage weapons than other races and the ability to change damage type, at the expense of a delayed "oomph". I think that works out quite fairly as it is. -- Sir, I don't understand why we train for ECM, sir - in a fleet battle all you got to do is press buttons.

Because it caused a change in play style for a lot of people. Whenever you change someones ability to play the game, even if its more than compensated in some other aspect it will **** people off who don't care about the other aspect. In this case, reducing range on torpedos ****es off carebears. Because they are carebears they dont care about pvp, so the dps increase means very little to them. Was this so hard to figure out?
P.S Also ****ed off some POS siegers too.
