Edited by: Drakma on 31/03/2004 17:26:09 Ok, this is not meant to be a rant, it's not meant to encourage flaming, it's not meant to start a troll. I simply want to make CCP aware of what is happening in my little part of the Universe.
Constant D/C (2 alone tonight) Horrible Lag Old Bugs showing up again Old Known Bugs not being fixed New Bugs
These things add up. I have several members in my corp threatening to leave the game. Now, how am I (as a CEO) supposed to keep these members? I can't fix the bugs, I can't make the connection/servers any faster. All I can do is reimburse them if something was destroyed or disappeared after a D/C or if they lagged out and got PK'd.
I'm all for more content. I'm all for new members. These only help the game, but when old things aren't fixed and people keep D/C'ing, how does that look? What's going on to fix these things?
Please CCP, help me out here. Help me Help you.
Drakma
P.S. I whole-heartedly expect this thread to either be locked for ranting or the ensuing flaming, but I want to try and have a civil conversation on what is going on here. It has reached the threshold for many of my members.

...And kicked back to desktop once again. "the server connection was closed".
Any comment CCP on when you will be fixing the game so it becomes moderately playable again?
Just wonderin'. I mean afterall we ARE paying MORE for it now and yet the playability of EVE seems to have gone way down hill over the last month or so.

Well, I guess the lack of response from anybody pretty much tells me what I should do - Ignore the problems... The world of EVE is turning in to a sad sad place.

I think we might be the only two. Did your Cd also have the large "no bugs included" text on it like mine?

Sounds like real bad luck or connections or bad systems I haven't had any problems neither has our group of 20 corp mates either. The above text is my own views which may not represent my corps views.

hhmmm.... several times last night I dropped to desktop, when you get back in and most of the Corp is asking...'Did you jast get dropped?' I'd say that it isnt a connection problem wiht their computers..... or their ISP.... lsat week or so has seen repeated problems, including large numbers of stuck people with the reboot following close behind (or maybe that was just a problem with my local client to!!!!).
Eve had actually got to a stage where it was pretty danm stable, very few reboots.... usual lag but you live with it when fighting fleet battles... or die with it of course....
Hopefully CCP is taking notice and will do something about it.

Ok... it's starting all over again. Personally, I have had 3 disconnects/CTDs in the last 30 minutes. Two of my corp mates can't even log in.
What is happening to this once (semi) stable game?

I think it is sector based. I've on more than one occassion watched 1/2 of my buddy list show up red (kind of funny to watch all those pictures pop up en masse in the bottom right of my screen.
During our recent war with Mercenary Frigates, we've had a number of sector crashes, where everyone in the system (or most everyone) gets booted inexplicably.
Alas, I have no idea what is causing it, but I can assure you it isn't a connection issue.

Connecting thru AOL isn't the way to play games.

Ive got a good connection from my ISP. But still there are many ctd's every day. Sometimes is VERY annoying. This is the best, but by far least stable game I ever played

Count me as number three, I have CTD once and it was when the server actually did go down.
Sure glad I downloaded the bug free version

Edited by: Mara Nobars on 07/04/2004 21:51:50 I've had my computer reboot once while playing ... I opened up the case and blew the dust out (guessing overheating caused it).
My play sessions usually run 1 to 2 hours at a time up to 6 hours at a time on a rainy weekend ...
There does seem to be a memory leak, as I get a lot of swapfile getting "free'd" upon exiting after a 6 hour play session ...
... that said, "bugs" really don't seem to be interfering with my gameplay.

It's bizzarre, but EVE runs much better on a different drive to your swap file.
And I had noticed a lot of drive thrashing with EVE after I've been on for an hour or two. Sort of like it's eating the swap file/disk cache.
Seriously, move the game to your D: drive. It does wonders for gmae stability. ++++++++++++++++++++ CEO of the Space Munchkins. Fear my kneepads of allure!

I wish that were true for me...
I run EVE on 3 different machines with varying hardware. There seems to be no rhyme nor reason when I am playing.
I've even gone as far to rebuild an entire machine just for EVE. XP Pro, fully patched, latest drivers for ATI... CTD...
Tried again with new install of XP Pro, fully patch and an nVidia card latest drives... CTD
Even tried it with 2000 and 98. Same problems.
Swapped hardward around numerous times... same issues.
I don't think it's hardware.
I have run tests on my broadband connection (locally). In an entire 7 days span, I dropped a total of 7... yes 7 packets.
I do notice, however, that ping times play a huge part in the game... I know when I am going to CTD now, because I run a ping/tracer program. When the ping rate for the EVE cluster starts to rise.. I know I am going to CTD.
I dunno... that's what I have tried... but still the CTD's persist... and on certain nights, the ping time can be as high as 700ms on the UK side of things (C&W)

I have 2 systems that run EVE.
One is an AthlonXP 1700, 768 megs, GeFX 5200 128 MB, and a Diamond sound card running XP home ed. This one is perfectly stable and I rarely lag to desktop. The second is a AthlonXP 2600, 512 megs, GeFX 5600 256 MB, and onboard AC97 sound (I think this is the problem on it) running Windows 98 SE. The second system hasn't been able to stay ingame for more than 20 minutes and usually CTD's/hardlocks 30 seconds after connecting to the game.
Haven't tried a re-install yet though...
