How about a US cluster since there are so many connectivity and lag problems surrounding the US proxy and Greenland connectivity. So far it seems to be getting worse with the growth of the user base. |

Edited by: Kenya on 31/03/2004 09:00:48 Yea what he said :) I think its getting harder to play because of all the times i get booted from the server. Its cost me one BS already so lets get something done.

From my understanding they have a US proxy in place that still interfaces with the UK servers. When I first started playing it was decent, now it seems to be lacking. It seems to steadily be getting worse as the population goes up.
This makes it difficult when I'm trying to bring over a guild from another game that is totally US based and they immediately start getting kicked or can't even drag an icon due to game lag. No, not client, but server lag.
Overall if the funding is there, I'd highly suggest a second game cluster as the comm architecture is currently not there.

Adding a server in the US would still present you with problems, if not more. The US server would still need to be sync'd with the other servers, and unless you have an idea on how to get rid of that little thing called "The Atlantic" i cant see it happening, or improving anything. 2004.08.22 21:03:00 combat Your Anode Light Neutron Particle Cannon I perfectly strikes callonious [BSC], wrecking for 236.9 damage. |

I'd like to know where the lags coming from. I mean, I'm in the US and I've been on when there's around 8000 people on and I don't really notice anything different. Unless I go through Yulai or Amaar, then I lag like crazy, but other than that it's not too bad. O, & I am on 56K by the way.

Adding a server to the server cluster doesn't help... always keep in mind, this is one universe, we are all in the same game, there is no distinction between US players and Euro players... it's split up by solar systems and services... the only separation you can make is by having a proxy in a remote location, which they did... though maybe they need a few more proxies or a better connection between the proxies and the server cluster...

Direct connection or tunnel (Not literally) from US proxy to UK servers. Can buy these for quite a bit of money and have a certain amount of bandwidth. In regards to the internet the oceans and continents are slowly fading away.
EDIT: lol, didnt realize what i said in the last part there. I meant internet bandwidth is getting better and better. With the upcoming demand for VOIP, which requires high bandwidth (bandwidth the internet cannot handle now), ........ok nm, going WAAAAY off subject.

Edited by: Kaylana Syi on 31/03/2004 14:47:44 They should double the pipes from US proxy to UK. Put 8 way opterons in the proxy and use Win 2k3 Enterprise Edition ( 32 bit edition ). While its not linux... that would probably clear up some lag. I am in Florida and I been playing since July 2k3 and I have seen no real difference in lag until E&B closed and we got tons of new players. This should be looked into because the majority of EVE subs come from US and UK. Not really fair to US when the proxy drops all the US players like it did last week.
EDIT : use 8 way opterons in each box in proxy if its in a cluster... -------------------- The Nest

I didn't say add another server to the cluster, I said add another cluster, as in a US Eve, and a UK Eve. Not that I don't like you folks across the pond, I just want to be able to play too. |
