In four weeks I have seen the price of a 90day GTC plummet from around 430 million ISK to around 380 million ISK. That's a 12% fall in a month. The drive seems to fuelled by sellers trying to get their ISK as fast as possible by offering the lowest price. At the current rate the GTC trading system is in danger of becoming unviable. I would urge all GTC traders to keep the market in check by showing restraint and not dump prices to follow the "one-off cheap offers" that result from certain players needing a quick injection of ISK. The price for GTCs is already very low to a point where you can earn enough ISK to buy a GTC in a fraction of the time covered by the GTC. The low GTC price is unreflective of real market value which should hover around 75% to 100% above current rates. This is not a price fixing suggestion but a market re-balancing suggestion.

Maybe when it plummetts people will stop spamming this forum with GTC sales, then the possiblity of selling a character efficiently may arise.

430 Mil is too much for a GTC anyway. I always used to purchase them for 390 Mil, so I don't know what you are fussing about.

I think prices are just finally going back to the prices they used to be. A year ago 30d gtcs went for 140-150 mil and 90d went for well under 400 mil. There was a high inflation rate for several months and ~200 mil became the norm for 30d, now the demand seems to be going down, hence the decrease in price just to sell those gtcs. There's no reason for alarms here, it's simple economics.. at least a lot simpler than when I took economics at university..

Well if you've been around for any time you'd know that GTC's have a tendency to follow a standard market curve.
1) When supply is low and demand is high, prices go up. 2) Others see the chance to make some quick and easy isk and start selling GTC's. 3) Thus the supply rises while the demand pretty much stays the same and or decreases. 4) GTC's hit a top out price and than begin to fall again as everyone and their mother is selling gtc's for quick isk injections for w/e reasons. 5) People stop selling GTC's as they begin to plummet in price again. 6) see step 1.

Cheap GTC are great. The fact your credit card can't buy you as much ISK is equally wonderful.
Pls crash the market a bit more, as it would be cool to afford a few extra characters :P

Low GTC prices encourage isk sellers, it may be that the isk sellers deliberately flood the GTC market to drive the price down and thus increase demand for their illegal 'service'
Example based on current prices:
GTC: USD15 for 30 day GTC = 180M ISK: USD14 for isk = 200M
No-one should ever buy isk as it is illegal, but people still do so and the isk sellers profit. I'm betting they make more than enough from isk sales to keep flooding the market with GTCs.
Look at it realistically. Buy 200M isk for USD14, use 180M of it to buy a 30d GTC - net 20M isk and USD1 profit DON'T DO THIS! Just an example of why the GTC market price may fluctuate.
A theory at least...

GTCs have been this cheap before. This is nothing new. The question is, what caused the price explosion?

Can't wait to see 90 day GTCs going for 350M once again. Those were good days and i'm so happy to see them getting closer again.
