As I sit and think about Eve I think of the things that it currently has such as planets, solar systems, regions, etc. One can think that its quite a vast system that has been put together. Sometimes I am still in awe of how different this is as opposed to the games I've played before. Naturally I tend to think 'what could be' and ways to make things different. Not just in a game but daily life. Thats beside the subject.
On to my point! I had a thought today on Eve planets. Since there are so many would it be too much to think that one day in Eve we could actually land on planets? It would be many many worlds within themselves and it would create a completely different setting for markets, improvements on ships, character setting, roll playing, items, mission, and a ton of other stuff that I can't even fathom right now. Yet beginning to think that CCP probably isn't even done with its current iteration of the game, and for me to start thinking this far ahead - would it be stupid? I mean could it be a possibility or has CCP made it known that they are focusing solely on the system they have now.
I can only assume it would of course take tons of money to develop. I guess my main concern is CCP regulating what ideas they can come up with? Are they OK with how things are now and want to just simply make improvements on the current gameplay? Would landing on planets be just too much to handle for one company?
I guess my imagination has gotten the best of me. I'd love to hear input, and I do apologize if this has been discussed before. I am quite new to the forums.

Planetary colonization and conquest are being planned. When it will actually make it to even the test servers....we'll see.

Planetary exploitation is coming. The devs just want it to have a good use in the game before they implement it. So it won't just be about who can field the most ships or build the biggest station, or whatever. There will be logistics and many other factors involved that will mean that decisions and pros and cons have to be weighed before you take on a planet.
Think POSes without all the pain and anger. At least that's how I dream of it.

I'd imagine that there would have to be a story a long with it. I would love to see something like this come to the game. Maybe even planetary vessels? :D I can only hope you'd be able to travel the planets grounds just like a solar systems space. Yet then again I think that may be too much wishful thinking.

Well, long ago CCP showed some really early concepts working in the game engine of a ship flying down onto a planet and doing stuff from there. Initially they didn't really know what to do with it and were just thinking about ground installations that you had to destroy for missions. However, since then it's moved on, and the most recent information I heard about it was that they were going to be something more about the economy, with more resources available for our exploits in space. I'm not sure if they are still planning to allow you to go there yourself though (might be something fitting in with the Ambulation project later).

Personally I don't think there should be any planetary/moon stuff. I like EVE as a pure space game. As soon as you add the ground as a reference point, it becomes a flight sim.

Eve is already awesome. If they added a ground game ... I could see never playing another MMO ever again.
In general my dream game is Eve with a ground game.
