hey guys,
I'm trying to get the linux client to work on ubuntu 7.10 but ran into a problem, whenever I try to start the game I'm met with this screen before it crashes to the desktop.

My drivers are all up to date and working fine, I've played with the settings ion several different ways, I've tried multiple reinstalls yet I still get stuck in the same place.
Can anyone point me in the right direction, if I've missed something here on the forums or something else I could try changing to fix it?

If you can run the config utility, post up your spec here, that will help with any trouble shooting.

Interestingly, I do get exactly the same, but on my Fedora 8 installation.

Hardware acceleration is working, checked with glxinfo / glxgears. Another interesting fact:
- OpenGL Direct Rendering test in fact fails. No idea where, but:
$ glxinfo |grep direct
direct rendering: Yes
Something strange is going on here.

Hmm... under the 32bit Version of the same OS it seems to work. Interesting.

For Fedora 8 you'll need the 32bit compatibility libraries to run Eve under x86_64
try:
yum install glibc.i386
That should pull in what you need.
