I know skill queueing has been talked about forever, but I wonder if my idea works better.
In today's non-scheduled server down time (right now), my character is losing training time more than 20 minutes. It's OK but technically I can ask GM to recover my missing time.
And here's my suggestion; the system should store missing training time in character data and let players to apply the time to any skills later. CCP could set the quota for the time store, like 3 days, if they have the reason to do so. However, in non-scheduled downtime, CCP should give away missing time regardless the quota.
For example in my case, I would get unused minutes rollover later and fast-forward any of my skills up to 20 min total that I missed because of the downtime, w/o getting help from GM.
I believe my idea is easier than skill queueing in terms of programming and every player should be happy about it.

Hell personaly I think you should be able to log into the website and access your skills from there anytime but thats just me. Doubt either idea will be taken cause this bunch of people are "Hardcore" and things that make sense don't seem to be taken into consideration. But I still love you all. |

its not that it doesn't make sense, they are just trying to avoid people character farming.
There is a thin line between making a system thats is really convenient for normal players yet at the same time not abusable.
Of all the ideas, I like the single skill queue one the best (lost the thread url though ;() EFT screen shots are NOT an accurate example of a ship's abilities. |

When a skill being trained is completed then it should continue training the next level, unless it gets to 5 and then it would stop. But if you decide you don't want to train the next level and change the skill then it resets to 0% trained for that level.

Personaly I would just like something. Today the server is down right now. My skill had finished training and I have to leave for work. Now is it really Fair that I am going to lose 10+ hours of train time? Some people would say "Sucks to be you" but come on. Anything would be better then the outdated training method. I don't see how abuse will happen since it will take the same time for everyone. No matter how little or much they play.

Edited by: Goa Vibe on 14/02/2008 18:14:36 I put my 3 day skill on pause and train another skill, until the first still will complete when I get home at lunchtime, which is a few hours from scheduled downtime. That way I don't suffer the same fail as you. No lost training time. That next skill is now sitting at 8%.

dude, what part of "non-scheduled server downtime" do you not understand?

I like this idea, with a little bit of modification. I don't think that it should store more than 24 hours of pooled time. It helps out new characters and it helps out with unexpected service interruptions.
The only downside that I can see to this is that you could potentially go PvP, get podded (or just jump clone) and stop training skills until you could plug in a new set of implants as much as 24 hours later. --- Honest officer, the dwarf was on fire when I got here! Obvious solution: getting podded automatically pauses all skill training. Since you should hopefully never not be online when this happens, it's no big deal to resume training - albeit now without the benefit of your implants. Hell, I don't know why they don't do that already.
And yeah, a 24h limited skill queue would kick ass, I hate having to juggle half-trained skills around to fit in with when I'll next be online...

I support a 24-hour queue. It would be very nice for getting the dozen or so short skills that take a few hours that I never get around to training and wouldn't really be abusable. The long skills are fine as they are.

This sounds like a wonderful idea. 24 hours would be nice. Hell even 12 would be enough to hold most people over. We're not asking for much CCP

Edited by: Kneebone on 22/02/2008 19:01:41 Edited by: Kneebone on 22/02/2008 19:00:26 I think the 24 hour skill queue would be nice, but I can see why CCP would consider that abusive. The 1 skill queue method seems the best solution and I would imagine would be the easiest for CCP to put into the game. (From a Developer perspective)
My personal view on it would be to have a primary and a secondary skill setting. Whatever you flag primary will train up and when its completed it switches to the secondary. If you want to train something else just set the new primary and it will switch back to the secondary once the new primary is done. If you set a skill as pri/sec then it will train the skill up twice. Anything beyond would be considered abusive I would imagine.

aye, 24 hours is pretty much not abusable...and this way, unscheduled DT's don't give people grief, and its really not that much to ask, just give us compensation for lost time...stored for 24 hours, anything over that is too much...but really, its not that much too ask...
And to answer the "JC...PEW PEW...JC back" idea, it should be training time, but with attributes stored, so it would be say 24 hours...but 24 hours of training that you're JC could do. ...NOT you're +4 implants clone. --- CEO - Crimson Rebellion

I don't see how a 24 hour queue would be abusable. It would let you train a series of short skills while you sleep/work/whatever but you'd still have to log in at least once a day to change it, or just leave a long skill training exactly as you can do now.

Yeah so you get 5 accounts, get industry 5 on all of them, then train the individual ore refining skills to 5 on them without ever paying beyond that months subscription at the start...
Never going to happen...

Edited by: Ethion on 24/02/2008 23:57:53 Heck I bet im oldest character on this forum right now, and I would love to have a 24hr pool to pick from. Even if I didnt train a skill for 24 hrs so I could have that alotted time to quickly spread to knew skills, I still could mess up and not log in and I wouldnt get any benefit beyond the 24 hr mark. 24hrs seems like the best amount to work with because even on my bad days I usally can get onto eve for at least a few minutes. But this would be a nice thing to have, esipcally for right now when my roommate doesnt pay the internet bill and I cant log onto eve and have been losing training time now this whole weekend. hell im on campaus typing this up.
