I hate the commercialisation of it anyway and the way people just blindly follow it. But if you have a gf/bf and not get them anything you will look like an ass, so you have no choice really.

Yesterday my gf said that I've probably forgotten all about it (again) and she had taken precautions and shopped for both us, for a good night tonight.
And that is probably why we are still together after almost 9 years

we'll have diner at a Japanese restaurant in Lisbon
(i so LOVE Ramen !!!!!!!! Ramen !!!!!!)
and we'll stay at her's till sunday...

Luckily for me, my girlfriend is out of the country, so no scandal about "why I didn't do anything about it".
Take that, commercialisation of "Saint Valentine's Day" !
As to why I don't care about it... well, for starters, I'm agnostic leaning towards atheism, so religious holidays mean little to me to begin with... and, ahem, I'm not "that" kind of romantic.
Actually, I am pretty grumpy and generally insufferable during just about any holiday, not just this one.

I think it's the most unromantic day of the year.
Romantic gestures are supposed to be spontaneous, I mean why would she want you to get her flowers on the one day of the year she's really expecting them, and when every single other woman in a relationship is getting them?

For the past two years, I have not had the financial means to send anything decent to my significant other. I HAVE, however, found a creative way to make her something for free and it's always worked for me.
Unfortunately I'm out of ideas this year. Perhaps a book of footrub coupons or something.
