Come on, when will be we get our hauler that cannot be suicided by a raven or two (for transport ships).
I'm not asking for more cargospace, it can be slower, have less slots and even have a little less than a transport ship's cargo space, but needs the quadruple of current hauler HP.

I agree, the Transport ships' active tank bonus is useless when you move through empire. The attacks are near instant and you won't have time to activate a hardener or repair module before you pop.
We need new transport ships with an HP buffer instead of active tank and agility bonus.

Edited by: Conrad Rock on 14/02/2008 20:13:46 You can't even fit a medium armor repairer on the Transport ships with the bonus for armor repair.
Clarification: you can't fit one on the lower cost logistic ships, even though they have the bonus for the tanks.

Use a blockade runner and don't afk-autopilot.
Seriously, they can't suicide what they can't lock (unless they are using smartbombs, but that would take quite a lot of preperation and luck to pull off).

Well atleast the gall one can actually fit a tank, just think of the bustard... 3 med slots..
Anyways just forget about tanking, just get a blockaderunner fitted for agility, u can't haul much but if u don't got afk ur pretty safe from anything but a setup directly created to gank u and even those will have a hard time getting u and would prolly take multiple ships.

A Bustard packs a passive shield tank from hell, almost as good as a mission-running Drake. Just use extender rigs, two LSE2s and a decent passive EM amplifier for a 100% passive decent-resists omnitank. Lows, mix of PDUs and SPRs, until you are comfortable enough (cap recharge for jumps vs tankable DPS, grid issues if any, etc). Switch one for the lows for a DC2, and the EM amp to an active EM hardener if you don't plan on being AFK.
Won't perma-tank several gank ravens, but it will definetely tank a couple long enough for CONCORD to show up and blow them out of the sky... and next jump, it's almost all back to full buffer.

I'd think any of the trasport ships, if fit with extenders / plates and some resists, could survive long enough to warp out.
I tanked 2 BS (one Amarr) and a Deimos once in a Viator long enough to align and warp out, they didn't even get me past peak regen. However, I had seen them and activated hardeners as soon as I broke cloak. ----- Must Be Nice to not care about your world at all. |

While I do agree transports needs some kind of boost because they are a joke. Itty V can quickly tank better and carry more load.
Anyway, my Occa for normal operations.
2x Large T2 Shield Extenders 2x Interia, 3x T2 Cargo Expanders, 1 T2 Damage Control.
I will soon change 1 Interia for a 400mm plate tho. And for rigs I use a em shield resist rig and a explosive armour resist rig.
That gives you around ~9000 shield, ~6000 armour, and ~3500 hull with just under 13000m3 cargo. With 30/85/60/60 on shield resists and 60/84/37/68 on armour. All without DC running.
The highslot is useless, but you can fit a tractor, remote repair or whatever you like.

Get a blockade runner, shield tank it, with passive hardeners, get compensation skills up...
(passive hardeners are important, as active will turn themself down after each jump)
Someone did try to suicide me today 1 jump out of jita, 5 ships did die, i had just a dent in the shields ...
