My toon is a (ammarr) and I am trying to run a friget class (punisher)and I own an armodello (for minning) I am haveing troubles not understanding equiping things onto a ship well i can figure some of the basics but some of the smaller things that wont let me do like I have 4 wepon ports and I can only put on 3 weps???? it keeps saying I have only 3 turret weps ???? I do understand cpu and energy core power. what would be a good set up for a punisher nothing fancy Im still very new and hate to see some nice toys just go pop with my ship. I been attacking rats near a planet I can fight two easy and anymore I get over welmed I hope you all can understand what I am trying to say I think i'm doing good I just need a little help with some things I can seem to get any answers from the corp and friend I keep talking to thank you for what anybody can offer and say longtooth

There is a difference between having a hi slot and a turret slot...
the punisher has 4 hi slots, but only 3 of those can be used for turrets - the other slot can only be used by a non-turret and non-launcher type module, sucha as an autotargetter or a smartbomb.
I dont know any good setups for a Punisher myself, havent used one since May last year.

Your buddy is using a smartbomb. They are very effective but dangerous. Kindof like a ship sized hand grenade, damaging indiscriminately all around them. Be careful with its use because you can accidently damage friends and drones. Most people find this out the hard way sooner or later.
The punisher loadout that worked best for me was: Hi: 2 150mm Railguns, 2 smartbombs Med: 1 small shield booster, 1 cap recharger low: 4 cap relay I
I'm not sure was kindof skillz were needed to fit this. I think at least engineering 3 and electronics 3 if I remember right. The cap relays allowed me to activate my smartbombs for missle defense (they can kill incoming missles) and keep them runing indefinately because the cap recharge was great enough to sustain fire. The recharge was also great enough to allow modernly frequent shield boosting, though the negative penalties that cap relays have on booster was a little annoying.
hope that helps

I'm still in love with my Punisher, and take it for hunting every now and then. I normally have on:
3 medium beam lasers (I have 2 modal and a modulated on, but standard ones should also do it) 1 small shield booster, 1 afterburner or cap recharger (depends) 3 power diagnostic systems + 1 heatsink OR 2 power diagnostic systems + 1 nanofibre + 1 heatsink, or something similar.
I love the PDS because they give a boost to max cap and recharge rate as well as powergrid, shield capacity and shield recharge. You normally won't need cap relays really (you can still stick one in if you run low on cap), since the punisher gives 5% bonus to small laser turret cap usage.
Also, try to carry different crystals with you. I normally have at least 3 radios and 3 gammas or multifrequency crystals with me, sometimes I have a third set of something inbetween (IR or UV).
Ciao, Aronis!

The Punisher is a great frigate. 3 medium pulse lasers or medium beam lasers and a shield booster will let you hunt frigate NPCs easily and not worry about ammo, and they also make good miners if you are mining to a can.
As far as 4 high slots and 3 turrets goes, get used to that if you like Amarr ships. VERY few Amarr ships have missile launcher slots, so most of them have a high slot you can't put a gun in. Gallente also have ships like this... Minmatar and Caldari ships almost always have enough launchers and turrets to fill all their highs. My personal advice is just ignore the last high slot... you're better off putting bigger guns in the turrets than wasing grid and CPU on a smartbomb. Once you have the skills to fit 3 good guns, a shield booster, and a MWD and STILL have grid and CPU left, THEN worry about that last high slot. Or just use the extra to mount a good heat sink in a low...

I fly a Punisher, and i love it!!!!! i kill 30k Gurrista terriost all day long in it, and have even managed to kill a 35k Ascriber (once). These frigates are truely beasts.
My setup ~
3x Medium Beams (Modulated) 1x Mwd (coldgas) 1x Small Shield Booster (tech II) 2x Auxiliary PowerCores 1x Heatsink (tech II) 1x Cap Power Relay.
I have plenty of cpu and grid spare, so peeps without lvl 5 engineering/electronics skills should still beable to use this setup. If you are not familiar with the npc your hunting take off the heatsink and use a WarpCoreStab.
omg ive gotten off topic, in answer to your question, ships may have alot of hi slots, some availible to turrets, some used for missles, it alows for a versitile setup, the hislots you can't put turrets/launchers in, you can still fill with mods such as Smartbombs, Energy Vampires/neutrilisers & Auto targetters.

thank you for the infor everyone. I learned on my own that there is a few skills to make less usage for cpu and power I have trained them some so I was able to get more in that can ( punisher) I was minning with it I put two caro things on her so I could get more in to the holds as I was fighting off some rats I do like her I just dont know everything and dont understand everything. The one things I do understand that there is about 1 to 2 skills for about eveyrthing in the game...... GOD I see my nose will be stuck in a book as im fighting rats or minning heheh thank all longtooth

Really nice setup but damn, I hope you don't make a mistake and lose ~10million isk worth of mods when you can get the more than the desired effect in a maller with standard equipment for less.

My desired effect was to kill the biggest cruiser possible, without using a Kestral/cruise missles
And yes, you've made me paraniod flying my ship
