Edited by: Mr Fowl on 15/02/2008 16:07:18 As I understand it, it has to do with right angles and the reduction of damage. Little to no reduction if you're coming straight at an enemy at high speed. The maximum reduction occurs when you are fleeing in a straigh line from the target. Therefore, when approaching, you should approach targets at right angles when in a vessel that is speed-tanking, that is, using speed to avoid taking damage. If your target is in one place buzz past an area kilometers above, below, to the left or to the right of him. There are a lot of other factors with speed-tanking, but I am inexperienced.

Transversal is a number based on the difference in vectors of your ship and another ship. A speed and direction create this vector.
The lower the transversal, the higher the accuracy and thus the higher the effective damage. Imagine two cars riding in opposite directions, firing a gun and hitting is hard. Now imagine two cars riding at the same speed in the same direction, it's alot easier to hit.
Keep your transversal low by trying to keep the heading the same as your enemy. You can do this easily by selecting your ship, watch ship, then you rotate the camera to aim where the ship points at, then doubleclick. This puts my transversal at 0-20 and accuracy at like 99% Selling Character |

No it's very easy, just match the heading of your enemy. You can do this by watching them and doubleclicking to head in their direction.

Considering you can just have the overview tell you the angular velocity(whichever one is in rad/second), it is the same unit of measure as whats listed in turret tracking. No math required, just remembering what your turrets track at =P
