Noob here.
I have read hundreds of posts, but I don't really see anything about how to get "deadspace" loot.
Is it by doing explorations? Is it possible to find these rare items in high sec., or is it mostly limited to 0.0?
Thanks

Faction Rats tend to drop these items, although the chance is very low. Doing the high sec complexs may net you some of the lower-end items as well, or even a frig BPC.

Edited by: Tari Telrunya on 15/02/2008 18:38:13 Well I've heard that its possible to find that kinna loot from random rats in belts and even in missions but the chance of it happening is very low and even then it would probably only be 'faction' loot (sansha etc.) not deadspace.
AFAIK the deadspace stuff is mainly found in complexes and most of them are now found by exploration. As for the security status, well that kinna depends. In hi-sec I've only ever found frigate sized mods (domination 1mn mwd, gisti small shield boosters etc.) where as in 0.0 I've also found cruiser and BS sized mods. Also in hi-sec the best mods I've found are the gisti where as I've also found pith in 0.0 (which tend to be better).
Hope that helps

Faction stuff drops from "faction rats" found in belts. They have names like "dread guristas blahblah" and "true sansha blahblah".
Sometimes it can be found in missions, but rarely. Places like the bonus levels of the Extravaganza missions, and rare overseer spawns in Worlds Collide.

Yeah basically, or more precisely,
faction stuff = belt rats found mostly in 0.0 but occasionally in low sec and also in complex's and very rarely in missions and also from the loyalty point store
deadspace stuff = complexes (most often from exploration as there are now only a few static complex's) in both hi, low and 0.0 sec, but better stuff as the security decreases) and very very rarely some bonus stages of missions... apparently
officer stuff = insanely rare 0.0 belt rat spawn (and I think in some plex's)

Edited by: Leandro Salazar on 15/02/2008 23:00:37 There is NO deadspace loot in any of the regular missions. Maybe in pirate faction missions, and possibly in higher end COSMOS, but not in your run of the mill highsec/lowsec lvl1234s.
There is no 'n' in turret There is no 'r' in faction There is no 'a' in Scorpion There is no 'e' in Caldari There is no makeup in rogue drones |

So would ratting in 0.0 really be much better than running lvl4's. If say under more optimal conditions where you're getting 800k-1.8 mill rats? I've yet to see any faction loot from running 4's.

More or less depends on how lucky you are with officer spawns, and how often you get ganked. If you have really peaceful space to rat in, it can be quite good. "Speak quietly and carry a big torpedo."

Over the past year I have only found a faction spawn in a mission once. It was a Domination BS that dropped a halo beta. Wasn't even my mission, lol.
I've found plenty of faction spawns in high sec/low sec/0.0, though most of the ones that dropped something nice were in low sec. I've never seen an officer in 0.0...
I've done quite a few complexes but I've never found any faction/deadspace gear in them.
I think it is pretty random, still not sure which plexes drop the really nice stuff.

Edited by: Lyvanna Kitaen on 06/03/2008 07:06:57 Doing hi-sec exploration sites this last weekend I found the following:
Low grade slave beta Centii a-type mag plating Centii c-type reflective plating True Sansha reflective plating True Sansha Energized Reflective plating True Sansha med nos True Sansha medium focused pulse laser True Sansha Heat Sink True Sansha PDS True Sansha Stasis Webifier
So the stuff is out there. Only one escalation took me out of hi-sec and ended in a .4 system.

Got a low-grade snake beta implant from a Shadow Serpentis in an asteroid belt in high sector a few weeks ago.
